Yay! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yay! was my reaction when Heidi addressed Laura second on Project Runway. I think Jeffrey said she was like the evil stepmother early in the show before. That stupid woman actually said she wanted to win just so Jeffrey wouldn't. What the hell. Dream on. Anyway I liked Uli's and Jeffrey's collections so I didn't mind either winning. Erm I don't understand why the people interview after the runway show supported Michael. His final collection was quite bad? Some of the pieces look like the same design in different colours. Even if he had good designs previously doesn't erase the fact that his final collection...was bad. Sorry..

Actually I thought Uli would win cos hers were very pretty. I like her first half collection. Thought Jeffrey's blue dresses were going to do him in. Maybe if they were striped they would tie in with the rest of his collection. So funny the judges referred to them as the "nightmare" in his concept of Japanese comic/manga nightmares and demons. Yay I'm so happy he won! Yay yay yay...

I finally plucked up enough courage to book a dental appointment. Found a forum for Singapore brides where they discussed about dentists and clinics and this dentist is supposed to be very gentle and skilful. The girl on the phone was very friendly also so I hope it won't be too painful... The dentist was actually in the NTUC denticare and now he has his own clinic so must be quite good. Plus he's so popular that the next available appointment for me was 9 Jan loh. But I told the girl I don't have my timetable yet so she let me have the 10 Jan evening slot. Cross my fingers...hope I won't need too much work done...

I have a question. How come so many people were traumatised by their primary school dentists? There were several on the forum who had phobia of dentists b'cos of bad experiences. Me too! So happy to have found the forum 'cos there are people like me. Heh.. The clinic girl said my problems were very common so I feel so much relieved. Phew. 20 days to my dental appointment...

Xmas season. Make a wish..

Check out the Xmas edition of 3 Little Pigs (video) on this blog ( http://opequenomundo.blogspot.com/ ). Very cute. Quite predictable lah, but still cute. I like the last part at the window. Also look at the December 15 post, the Chanel Nicole Kidman ad. How come we don't have such beautiful and elaborate ads here? Even in that tiny screen it's still so beautiful. At least I think it's an ad lah. I don't really know what language that blog is in. I don't think it's french or german. Spanish? Italian? Hope I'll have a chance to work overseas in future. Better still, have the means to have ultra long holidays, plus have a companion or companions. If I can afford to pay for them then wah, I must be filthy rich. I doubt I can be filthy rich on my own though. So the only way is to marry rich. Any rich decent gay guy need a smokescreen?

Oh the blog guy's from Portugal so Portuguese? Oh he likes Love Actually. Me too! But he likes Titanic too. Hmm. I liked the part where the drawing of Rose has my birthdate on it. Ha.. I like the bits about Titanic and the passengers more than the love story. Anyway. Yay I'm so happy Channel 5 is finally showing it. Although I've seen it 3 times. I wonder if I can get the uncensored version here. They actually cut off one love story between a couple who met on the set of a porn film. I know this cos I read its screenplay. Wonder what the complete film looks like... Did I mention the boy is so cute?

Art of Solitude

I guess this sounds strange coming from a blogger, but why don't people believe in solitude anymore? It has always bugged me, this depressing need to be around people all the time, to have them comfort you and massage your ego. What is wrong with just saying 'I want some time alone'? I guess the art of solitude died when the age of communication began. Now we feel that we can be with people all the time, via the internet/mobile phone/whatever.

It took me an age to eventually buy a mobile phone. I thought of them as a metaphorical umbilical cord. I felt that people were using them as if to say: 'Yes, I have friends. I know people. I feel safe.' By talking on the phone all the time, they were making up for their own insecurities. It is a very public way to demonstrate that you are actually a very popular, interesting person. See how interesting I am, people want to talk to me all day long.

I can also never understand why people feel they need to be around each other all the time. Whether it be partners/friends/family, what is wrong with just taking some time out for yourself? Time to read. Time to think. Time to do something creative. Why do we need to feel wanted all the time? Is it something about our insecurity? Who knows. The stupid thing is, I am writing this hoping that someone will read it and ease my insecurities. See, I am a failed sad loner.

good question. you seem to have answered it well though, people are too insecure to be able to be comfortable with themselves so they must constantly be surrounded by others.

You miserable bastard.

Good for you!

I think blogging is different because it is something you can do in solitude and, if you choose, absolute anonymity. Most people that come over to your blog and start reading will probably do so because they are of a like mind and see something they might be interested in, or someone they might want to get to know.

I'm a miserable old curmudgeon myself, so I enjoy my me time- especially reading. I think it is very important to be able to have that time to yourself.

By the way- It is better to be a failed sad loner than a succesful one.

Thanks aliemalie, I think we have become increasingly insecure as time has gone on. I wish I could spend more time exploring the reasons why this might be so, but I can't.

Neath - What can I say.........yay for me time!! And as for a failed sad loner......I think it was one of my heroes who said:

'I miss the comfort in being sad.'

I feel the same way, I just like being by myself most of the time. I and felt the exact same way about cell phones and how people used them. I still feel this way, even though I now have one. I didn't get mine to be mr. popular, it was simply just need. I hardly use it, only when I have no other choice. But I guess we are social creatures and are required to be around people all of the time. But for myself, I would just like to be alone most of the time. :)

The voice of experience

The new priest is nervous about hearing confessions, so he asks a more experienced priest to sit in on his sessions. After the new priest hears his first two confessions, the experienced priest asks him to step out of the confessional for a moment for a couple of suggestions: "Try crossing your arms over your chest, maybe rub your chin with one hand, try saying things like 'Yes, I see,' 'Yes, go on,' or 'I understand'." The new priest tries them out, still a bit awkward, but yes, these could work.

"Now," says the experienced priest, "don't you think that is a little better than slapping your knee, laughing out loud, and saying, 'No way ... what happened next?' "

The Spider and the Fly

Will you walk into my parlour?" said the Spider to the Fly,
'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to shew when you are there."
Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair can ne'er come down again."

"I'm sure you must be weary, dear, with soaring up so high;
Will you rest upon my little bed?" said the Spider to the Fly.
"There are pretty curtains drawn around; the sheets are fine and thin,
And if you like to rest awhile, I'll snugly tuck you in!"
Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "for I've often heard it said,
They never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed!"

Said the cunning Spider to the Fly, " Dear friend what can I do,
To prove the warm affection I 've always felt for you?
I have within my pantry, good store of all that's nice;
I'm sure you're very welcome -- will you please to take a slice?"
"Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "kind Sir, that cannot be,
I've heard what's in your pantry, and I do not wish to see!"

"Sweet creature!" said the Spider, "you're witty and you're wise,
How handsome are your gauzy wings, how brilliant are your eyes!
I've a little looking-glass upon my parlour shelf,
If you'll step in one moment, dear, you shall behold yourself."
"I thank you, gentle sir," she said, "for what you 're pleased to say,
And bidding you good morning now, I'll call another day."

The Spider turned him round about, and went into his den,
For well he knew the silly Fly would soon come back again:
So he wove a subtle web, in a little corner sly,
And set his table ready, to dine upon the Fly.
Then he came out to his door again, and merrily did sing,
"Come hither, hither, pretty Fly, with the pearl and silver wing;
Your robes are green and purple -- there's a crest upon your head;
Your eyes are like the diamond bright, but mine are dull as lead!"

Alas, alas! how very soon this silly little Fly,
Hearing his wily, flattering words, came slowly flitting by;
With buzzing wings she hung aloft, then near and nearer drew,
Thinking only of her brilliant eyes, and green and purple hue --
Thinking only of her crested head -- poor foolish thing! At last,
Up jumped the cunning Spider, and fiercely held her fast.
He dragged her up his winding stair, into his dismal den,
Within his little parlour -- but she ne'er came out again!

And now dear little children, who may this story read,
To idle, silly flattering words, I pray you ne'er give heed:
Unto an evil counsellor, close heart and ear and eye,
And take a lesson from this tale, of the Spider and the Fly.

Poet unknown. But wise. =)

The Perfect Man

The perfect man is gentle
Never cruel or mean
He has a beautiful smile
And keeps his face so clean.

The perfect man likes children
And will raise them by your side
He will be a good father
As well as a good husband to his bride.

The perfect man loves cooking
Cleaning and vacuuming too
He'll do anything in his power
To convey his feelings of love for you.

The perfect man is sweet
Writing poetry from your name
He's a best friend to your mother
And kisses away your pain.

He has never made you cry
Or hurt you In any way
Oh, screw this stupid poem
The perfect man is gay

Morning Poem
© By Danielle D. Curtis

Woke early one morning,
the earth lay cool and still,
when suddenly a tiny bird,
perched on my window sill,
it sang a song so lovely,
so carefree and so gay,
that slowly all my troubles,
began to slip away,
it sang of far off places,
of laughter and of fun,
it seemed his very song,
brought out the morning sun,
I pulled back the covers,
and crept slowly out of bed,
and gently shut the window,
and crushed his freaking head,
I'm not a morning person

Heh. A bit gross but really funny. Ha..

So funny. Hahaha.. I found this website http://silivren.net/dop/main.html about the hobbits, but only includes Pippin, Merry and Frodo. Apparently the owner doesn't fancy fat hobbits. Ha.. Actually it was only for Pippin =) called Dreaming of Pippin but it was remade and the other two were added. Under the "Fun" link, there are lists of 10 reasons to love each of the hobbits. The other 2 lists are kinda lacklustre compared to Pippin's.

10 reasons to love Pippin

1. His accent. Scottish guys have the best accents!
2. He's cute. Come on, he's adorable and you know it!
3. His sense of humor. You can't deny that we all want a guy who's not always serious.
4. He's loyal. This is a BIG plus, we don't a guy who's not loyal, what's the point.
5. He can sing. He has the voice of an angel.
6. You get a 2 for 1 special. Let's face it, him and Merry don't like being separated.
7. His look. You know you want to go up and hug and kiss him! You can't deny it!
9. He's outgoing. He always gets in trouble and jumps at the chance for an adventure.
10. Everything! You know you want him!

Number 6 sounds so gay! But it's funny. Ha..

Wow 89% for Ian McKellen and 98% for Hugo Weaving. Maybe I'm supposed to be intelligent. Because I think they're intelligent people. Right? I used "supposed to be" just to show that I'm capable of being humble. Haha...

Anyway from there you can find your best celebrity matches and I have no idea who these people are. Except maybe Bow Wow.

Your best matches

Boris Titulaer 99%
Devon Sawa 99%
Robert Pattinson 98%
Giuseppe Andrews 96%
Bow Wow 93%

But since it's according to biorhythms I just need to find the same birthdates. Ha..
Oh Devon Sawa is the guy in Final Destination. Robert Pattinson was in Harry Potter but I have no idea who he is even after seeing his pic. As you can see I'm extremely bored at home and have nothing better to do. Boss please finish your thesis chapters soon... Oh! Did Bow Wow act in Like Mike? Yah, he was a cute boy in there.

Oh I watched Happy Feet after my last paper on 28 Nov, while many were still mugging away. Ha.. Still very much prefer Flushed Away. Flushed Away is So Funny! Happy Feet was quite funny also lah, but the front part wasn't very entertaining. Robin Williams is damn funny. He totally saved the film. The Amigos aka the Latin Penguins and Lovelace were the highlights of the film. Robin Williams is really hilarious. I knew I would enjoy his performance. There was another Latin Penguin who was quite funny too. Was it Raul? Robin Williams was Ramon. Raul is voiced by Lombardo Boyar. I was surprised Brittany Murphy could sing so well.

The story is pretty long and it had a really serious message, which was the point of the film I guess. Towards the beginning of the end I kept wondering if it was going to have a sad ending. There were many parts where it looked like it was going to end. But of course it had a Happy ending. Oh the animations were quite amazing. Very realistic and the clouds and lighting were just beautiful. But the Leopard Seal seriously did not need to look that realistic 'cause it was really pretty gross and scary.

Lovelace: Ladies, please avert your eyes... 'cause I've been known to hypnotize.

Lombardo: What are you gonna do? Subject him to cruel and unusual punishment?
Raul: Unimaginable torture?
Lombardo: Imaginable torture?
Raul: Your singing?

Happy things

I am so happy! (!!) (Which reminds me, I was extremely happy yesterday that all 4 designers got into the finals, instead of eliminating one. !! Hurrah! So exciting. Can't wait to see what they came up with. I wonder if Laura is going to give birth before or after or during the show. Ha..)

Anyway I just took an online career test thing and here is part of my results:

While each job has its own unique set of tasks, most jobs involve one of three general work categories: Data, Objects, or Ideas. Work Tasks measures the type of work you most enjoy.

You most prefer working with Ideas

You take great pleasure in brainstorming creative ideas and having discussions about abstract concepts, which are activities that often involve collaborating with your colleagues. Not overly concrete, you'd rather be the one who comes up with the ideas than the one to figure out how to implement them. With a preference for creativity and theory, you probably have little desire to work with numbers or data.

Although you may not currently be in an occupation that involves working with ideas, being good at thinking creatively and channeling different theories and concepts into actionable ideas will help you excel in this area. You may want to explore Idea-heavy occupations such as an advertising copywriter, architect, a software developer, or a writer.

Hurrah... I wonder why I screwed up in aki though. Hm.

This Saturday evening I will be waiting for you too. This invitation does not mean that I want to do anything or talk during the movie. But when the darkness leaves the theatre, perhaps we will look into each other's eyes, smile, decide to get a cup of coffee and share a conversation over what we just saw.

Subject: movies/white hats

i have a white hat that i don't like very much.
but i'll be wearing it every saturday night i happen to be at the movies (alone).

spread it around; if you're going to the movies alone, wear a white hat. if you see someone with a white hat, ask them how they are, and if they visit postsecret.
