Idol night

Just watched the whole American Idol finale. It was pretty entertaining, I must say. Ha.. That new judge (Kara?)'s little show was rather awesome. Ha.. She really showed that girl she's better in every aspect. So funny she kept trying to cover up. Ha.. She can really sing indeed. I'm impressed.

Oh I really like Steve Martin's banjo band!

And I think Adam Lambert is already a rock star! So he doesn't need the title as much as Kris so stop abusing Kris already! People are so rude. I was watching, well, more of listening to, some of their performances on youtube and read some comments. Why do people feel the need to insult their idol's competition? Isn't it good that we have TWO great singers? More good music right? Kris is just a little quieter. It's easier to like a rock star because they're dynamic and make the audience high with all that screaming--less oxygen. Ha.. I think Kris did sing that last song, No Boundaries, better today than yesterday. Too nervous? It is a very nice song.

But my favourite song by him is Heartless, which he sang in the top 3 show.

Idol morning

I woke up early to see who won American Idol. And since the objective was just to see who won, I woke up at 0920. Heh. I'm damn glad I saw the announcement myself rather than hearing the result from another source!

Do not continue reading if you don't want to know who won.

. . . x y z . . .

I think everybody is shocked that Kris won. Ha.. I think he might have even felt bad for winning. It was so noisy with all the cheering when Ryan was announcing the result. I just heard him making noise and then heard him say "Kris Allen" and I went huh? because I wasn't sure what was happening and of course I thought Adam definitely won. Really? He won? Huh? I just saw Kris looking shocked and in disbelief and Adam smiling, huggings going on etc.. I kept waiting for Ryan to say something else and announce Adam as the winner. Plus, it took a while to sink in because I wasn't yet fully awake. Ha..

I like Adam's version of the last song, No Boundaries, yesterday. I felt bad for Kris cos his version in comparison was kinda weak.. Actually I only watched the last 2 shows so I don't feel very strongly for anybody but I like Adam's high notes. But because I'm a horrible person, I keep getting distracted by the thought that he is fat. Oops! No lah, I just have the impression that he was a little slimmer when I saw him at the beginning, just before all the serious singing on the big stage. Adam has fantastic presence onstage. Very confident and dynamic, which is what I think Kris lacks. Other than that I think he's really good too. Quite unique voice. I really, really hope he doesn't end up like Ruben!

I feel bad that I haven't bought David Cook's album. Oops. =P

Actually American Idol just creates a hype for a while. I'm sure they want to be in the industry for the long haul so whether they win or not, they still have a long way to go and lots of things to do. Daughtry wasn't even in the top 3 or even close, but he's doing quite well now.

Oh yah, I agree with Simon about Adam's first song yesterday. Very theatrical and reminded me of Phantom of the Opera. Ha.. But I liked it.

Boohoo

I miss Survivor already.... I was looking at some videos on youtube and I realised that Stephen reminds me of Josh Groban. They look a little alike. I think JT kinda reminds me of him too, just because he is so nice.

I'm so bored with my life.

Can I start over?

To a Butterfly

by: William Wordsworth (1770-1850)

Stay near me—do not take thy flight!
A little longer stay in sight!
Much converse do I find in thee,
Historian of my infancy!
Float near me; do not yet depart!
Dead times revive in thee:
Thou bring'st, gay creature as thou art!
A solemn image to my heart,
My father's family!

Oh! pleasant, pleasant were the days,
The time, when, in our childish plays,
My sister Emmeline and I
Together chased the butterfly!
A very hunter did I rush
Upon the prey:—with leaps and springs
I followed on from brake to bush;
But she, God love her! feared to brush
The dust from off its wings.

Yay! *clapclapclap*

JT won Survivor~~ ^^ In the first challenge of today's (or yesterday's) episode, Erinn was so close to winning and I kept going nononono nonononono... Ha.. The editting probably made it seem closer than it actually was but I think in reality she did come really close. She looked like she was damn quick with the puzzle.

Yay so happy he won. Yes I mentioned that already. There was this time my father was saying what the audience in shows were cheering for the contestants for. Well, because we are kind people. It's not like the money would have gone to us anyway. If there's money, or good stuff, being given away, I'd rather see it given to somebody I like and/or who deserves it. Although I do know some of those audiences cheering on tv are probably just cheering for fun.

Going back to Survivor, it's so nice to see good people winning. I wonder if they purposefully select contestants who are good people at heart, who would in turn vote for deserving people or it just happened by chance? What if they have an "Evil Survivor" and choose psycho, vindictive contestants who would vote for the least deserving person? Nobody would want anybody to win. So everybody would hate the show. Oops. Ha.. Oh, I think that might have happened before. The season where somebody brought a golf club. I mean, they didn't deliberately vote for the less deserving person but the final two were horrible people that I disliked, I think. Can't really remember.. But anyway, they added this additional feature for viewers to vote for a person to get $100,000 (or whatever amount it is) probably because sometimes the person who wins isn't who most people deem most deserving. At least that shows that there are more good people than bad in this world.

Aw, every time Survivor ends, even if I'm happy for the winner or at least to know who won, I'm sad because I can't see these people that I like.. So annoying..

Withdrawl symptoms

I recently visited the Cathay website while I was in the office, with my earphones plugged in, listening to BBC Radio 7, which is not a news channel but more of a story channel. Anyway, I don't know if it was because I had earphones on, when you visit the site, it starts playing a movie trailer and it sounded a lot like in the theatres, so very good surround sound kinda quality. I was like, wow it feels like I'm in the theatre watching a movie! I haven't seen a movie in the cinema for AGES and I'm so dying to watch SOMETHING! It made me feel like watching Star Trek, which is the trailer on the website now, and that's a movie that I wouldn't normally even consider watching. Either I'm that desperate for a movie fix or it's a really marketing strategy to promote a movie. I played the trailer several times in the office and it totally distracted me. Ha..

And yes, I've been listening to BBC Radio 7 in the office. I can't find a description on their website. Is it called radio dramatisation? This is rather late but last Friday I happened to hear the last episode of Heated Rollers and it was really funny. These 3 (I think) women making fun of stuff in general. Broadcasts can be downloaded from the website but they are only up for a week so erm, if you want to listen to it, you only have 15 hours left, starting now. Oops.

Ok I'm done here. Ciao!

Shocker

Did you guys watch the Star Awards? Is anybody else shocked Joanne Peh won?? I was so shocked I can't really remember what everybody else's reactions were. I know she herself was shocked. Was the whole place just stunned into silence? Did her fans remember to cheer? But I really like her second dress and the winding bracelet. Nice.. I need to lose weight. =P

Little Children

Ah, Les Choristes was on Okto tonight, or Saturday night. *clapclapclap* But Seed of Chucky was on Ch 5 and Billy Boyd voiced the "Seed" and there's no way I'll even borrow it to watch because it's disgusting and I know I will eventually buy Les Choristes so I decided to watch Seed of Chucky and Les Choristes during the commercials. In the end I didn't really finish watching Seed of Chucky because, again, it's disgusting, Billy Boyd didn't really have that big a part and actually, I might have seen the ending and there might not have been much after that commercial break.

So I watched the last parts of Les Choristes and ah, it is so good! Made me cry. *sniff* And inspired me to revise my french. There was a french girl from Paris in class the other day and my teacher itchy mouth asked me how to say some colours in french. Lucky I remember most of them. Phew. Except green actually. Which is rather ironic because that's the colour of my new hair extensions. Ha..

- - -

I saw this link on the origin of the Red Riding Hood. A little disturbing.. Actually very disturbing to me. Didn't really need that after watching Seed of Chucky.. But it's quite interesting. I love knowing the dark underlying meanings of children's stories/rhymes/etc. Which is why I love The Pillowman.

... once upon a time, there was a woman who had baked some bread. she told her daughter, a young girl, to go to her grandmother with a warm bread and a bottle of milk. the girl left. at a crossroad, she met the wolf, who asked her where she was going. 'i'm going to my grandmother with a warm bread and a bottle of milk'. 'which road will you take? this road, or that road?' asked the wolf. 'i will take this road', the girl answered. 'good, then i will take that one'.

the wolf gets to the grandmother first, kills her, puts some of her flesh in the pantry and a bottle of her blood on a shelf.
enters the girl.
the wolf asks her to eat the flesh and drink the wine (blood), which she does, unknowingly that she cannibalises her own grandmother.
the wolf then asks the girl to undress and get into bed with him. when she asks where to put her clothes, which is mentioned one by one item, she is told to throw them into the fire because she won't be needing them anymore.
well into bed, the girl questions grandma's unusual looks; hairy, broad shouldered. she asks why he has such a big mouth, and he gives the answer we all know; 'to better be able to eat you'.

Twisted

Just watched Survivor. I knew there was a possibility that Tyson would be voted out but watching it happen, I couldn't help laughing out loud. Ha.. He is a jerk.. And Coach is a little psychotic. Sierra's weird too, though. But..they're all still kinda interesting to watch.

Anyways, I borrowed The Pillowman, the play by Martin McDonagh, from the esplanade library before work and I've already finished it because it's SO DAMN GOOD! Extremely twisted, but really, really good. There's this part about a little girl swallowing razors and I couldn't bear to swallow while I read it. Urgh. Disturbing but I like that it has many stories within it and I like the themes of the stories. The play was so good in 2007.** When I read it I could imagine the actors playing the characters onstage. Except this guy whom I haven't seen before the play. But especially Adrian Pang and Michael Corbidge. I wanna watch it again... Shall buy the book.

**Was looking it up online and realised that it was brought back by popular demand last year Mar-Apr. Damn.. How come I didn't hear about it at all?

Scream like a crazy fan

Aaaaahhhh!!!

Ok the picture isn't very good. Anyway, Yahoo answers is great. Somebody gave me the answer! I googled the name given (John O'Hara) and found a Straits Times article. Oops. Not sure how I missed that.. And the very helpful person gave me a link to a post on the blog Artzine, which is apparently a magazine for the art scene in Singapore. And there's a picture of John O'Hara there. =) Quite cute actually. Ha.. Ah, he is Australian.. Unfortunately there's a more famous writer/actor by the same name so it's difficult to find more info on him. I'm just happy that I now know who's the actor. But feeling quite dumb because that information isn't quite as elusive as I thought. Oops.

I wanna be a ROCK STAR!

I just watched Cats the musical. =D It's better than I expected because I saw it on TV several years ago and thought it was a little boring. Might have only watched a little of that because I don't remember much from that. Just cats singing..

BUT, obviously I have changed my mind. Ha.. There's this rock star cat that was awesome and which everybody loved because everybody was cheering for him. Haha.. Couldn't catch his name in his song so I call him the rock star cat. His song just kept going blah blah blah blah is a curious cat. But he's very obviously a rock star. And a very confident one too. Ha.. Of course I've checked online and found out his name.

Rum Tum Tugger is a ROCK STAR cat!
(Broadway cast of Cats performing live on the Today Show)

When I was watching it in the theatre I really felt like screaming like a crazed fan. Haha.. I think that was the point of having that little screaming cat towards the end. To scream for the audience so they won't have people screaming in there. =)

That was David Hibbard as Rum Tum Tugger. Watch the clip before reading the next sentence please.. Didn't notice the snorting till I read the comments. The comments said the John Partridge was better in the film version of it so I went to find it.

I think the first one seems closer to what I heard in the musical. I guess film is just different. I'm a very loyal person so I think my favourite will still be the one I just saw at Esplanade. Ha.. I have no idea who he is!! I searched online and found nothing. Only this website that has a list of performers of Rum Tum Tugger. I'm not sure the one for Singapore is the current one. I couldn't find anything about that actor online. Anyway since I was sitting so far from the stage, I might have made him better looking in my mind. Ha.. Urgh but I want to know who he is!!

There was another cat song that I like, about McCavity the mystery cat:
(Macavity aus dem Cats-Video © Really Useful Group)

This seems very close to what we saw just now.

Macavity! Macavity's a mystery cat
He's called the Hidden Paw
For he's a master criminal who can defy the law
He's the bafflement of Scotland Yard
The Flying Squad's despair
For when they reach the scene of crime Macavity's not there!
...

Anyways, wikipedia says
Andrew Lloyd Webber has stated that the part of the Tugger is intended to be an homage to Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones. This homage is apparent in the way he moves on stage in the original Gillian Lynne choreography and the costume styling. His type of cat was said to be Maine Coon, because of his wild mane and being portrayed as being much bigger than the other cats. According to his song, he apparently would do pretty much anything to annoy his owners.

So I was right to call him rock star cat. Ha.. But that was obvious lah.

He is considered the ladies cat, and the rebel of the group. He loves the limelight, while at the same time he enjoys being seen as an individual by separating himself a little from the pack.

Yupyup I noticed that most of the time he is alone (yah looking at him a lot. ha..) but he joins the others for some of the dancing too. There was this part where some other stuff was going on in the centre and the cats were just sitting around watching. He was sitting on this big pipe and a groupie cat was kneeling beside him and erm pawing him. Ha.. He just flirted with her a little and let her play with his tail. Think she eventually fainted or something. I like how all the cats stayed in character and just did their own thing at the side. Like playing with each other like real cats. The story wasn't that fantastic, just bits and pieces of stories, but the music was great and the dancing and jumping around. And I love my haughty rock star cat. Ha.. But his part is a little more tiring because I noticed that he seldom sits down (because standing up is easier to show attitude) while most of the other cats could sit or sprawl on the floor. Well, at least he doesn't need to be doing somersaults. Having an attitude is still easier than that. =)

Ohoh, it would be very worth it to get the front row seats because you'll get a lot of interaction with the cats. Tum Rum Tugger got down and danced with a lady. Afterward, he got down again and shook hands with some people too. Other cats were all over the place too. Towards the end of the interval he was on stage with some of his groupies flaunting his stuff. Ha.. Before the show the usher was telling us during the interval the cats would come out for us to take photos. Didn't realise it would be a mini-show. Thought it would be the actors and not the characters. Unfortunately we were too far to take any good shots. =(

There was this part where all the lights went out. It was after the interval and I hadn't seen my rock star cat since the interval. I whispered; "Where's my rock star cat?" When the lights came back, there he was! Ha.. Boliao..

CHORUS:
The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious cat

TUGGER:
If you offer me pheasant, I'd rather have grouse
If you put me in a house, I would much prefer a flat
If you put me in a flat, I would rather have a house
If you set me on a mouse, then I only want a rat
If you set me on a rat, then I'd rather chase a mouse

CHORUS:
The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious cat

TUGGER:
And there isn't any need for me to shout it

CHORUS:
For he will do as he do do

TUGGER:
And there's nothing doing about it

SOLO:
The Rum Tum Tugger is a terrible bore

TUGGER:
When you let me in, then I want to go out
I'm always on the wrong side of every door
And as soon as I'm at home, then I'd like to get about
I like to lie in the bureau drawer
And I make such a fuss if I can't get out

CHORUS:
The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious cat

TUGGER:
And there isn't any need for you to doubt it

CHORUS:
For he will do as he do do

TUGGER:
And there's no doing anything about it

SOLO:
The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious beast

TUGGER:
My disobliging ways are a matter of habit
If you offer me fish, then I always want a feast
When there isn't any fish, then I won't eat rabbit
If you offer me cream, then I sniff and sneer
For I only like what I find for myself
So you'll catch me in it right up to my ears
If you put it away on the larder shelf

CHORUS:
The Rum Tum Tugger is artful and knowing
The Rum Tum Tugger

TUGGER:
Doesn't care for a cuddle
But I'll leap upon your lap in the middle of your sewing
For there's nothing I enjoy like a horrible muddle!

CHORUS:
The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious cat
The Rum Tum Tugger doesn't care for a cuddle

The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious cat

TUGGER:
And there isn't any need for me to spout it

CHORUS:
For he will do as he do do

TUGGER:
And there's no doing anything about it!

Marcello Zuffo’s Movable Kitchen Design

This is damn cool. And very fun. Ha..

...the overall design can be shifted and manipulated to adapt to whatever task is required of the space. The contemporary aesthetic allows for the user to be creative with what would otherwise be a boring, rectangular kitchen floor plan, and encourages an interesting degree of user interactivity between Zuffo’s design and your day-to-day preferences. In fact, you might as well change up the space every few weeks just to try something different.

The workmanship has to be very good though. Otherwise things might start swinging about and you'll get a lot of bruises..

On Your Birthday

No cake or candles here today
Or presents for you to open
Just love from friends who want to say
Happy Birthday, and that we're hoping
Somehow you can see and know
That we have not forgotten you
That we still remember, even though
You've departed from our view
And if you see us here below
And wonder why we care
It's just because we want to show
That a part of you is still here
You live within each memory's heart
And so you remain, though we're apart

I think Mr Miyagi's son has the same birthday as Heath Ledger.

Curious findings

I noticed something at the office. Sitting at the pantry area was a glass-bowl-ful of sweets. I had a smaller glass bowl of sweets at my desk before I left on my long leave. I guess they missed my candy bowl enough to copy me. Hehheh.

Stumbled upon (clicking on links in blogs) this website "Stuff White People Like" and it looks interesting enough. There was this post about tattoos that White People like and this link to a website dedicated to "fingerstache". Hadn't even heard of it. =P People have tattoos of mustaches on their finger(s) so they can put it to their faces to look like they have mustaches. So funny. Ha..

Oh that reminds me of a story I heard on the radio a long time ago. There was this angmoh guy in America or somewhere who wanted to get a tattoo of his name in Chinese so he went to a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown and asked the Chinese restauranteur to help him translate his name. So the Chinese guy writes down the Chinese characters on a piece of paper for him. Angmoh guy goes and gets the tattoo. Few years later, the angmoh guy went to Thailand (or some asian country with beaches) and while on the beach, he noticed people laughing at him. Yah, obviously something to do with the tattoo right? Somebody ended his bewilderment by telling him his tattoo reads "可口可乐" (Coca Cola if you can't read the Chinese characters). Chinese guy with a sense of humour. Haha..

Oh I just read something super funny on e White People blog:

The second type of white person travel is Third World. This is when they venture to Thailand, Africa or South America. Some do it so that they can one up the white people who only go to Europe.

But like with Europe, white people like to believe they are the first white people to make this trip. As such, they should be recognized as special and important individuals.

That’s right, by going to a country, riding around on a bus or train, staying at a hotel or hostel and eating - they are doing something important for the world.

If a white person shows up in your country, you can make them feel fantastic by saying how you’ve never seen a white person before, and that you are amazed by their iPod - “a device that plays many songs? impossible!”

They might give it to you, then you can sell it for profit. Repeat as necessary.

New white stuff

Just started using my new white LG viewty. =) But don't know why its bluetooth won't connect to my comp. And I'm using a new 3G sim card so all my contacts are still in my old phone. I've only added a few contacts because I'm not used to the touchscreen yet. Am I supposed to format my microSD card first? Bah will try again tomorrow..

The other new white stuff is my super expensive white double neck guitar that a stranger bought for me on fb's rock legends. Heh.. It's the most expensive guitar available there and I had only been able to afford the second most expensive one. What a generous stranger. Ha..

Sigh..wish I can play with my phone.. Oh yah another new thing that's half white is my new pouch that I bought for my new phone.. It's white with green stripes and reminds me of Juno. =)

How cool (and cute) is this? Answer: Very!

A 5 Mega Pixel camera with autofocus technology, the Rollei Mini allows you to shoot from a distance of 4 inches to infinity, saving each image to a Mini SD Card.

SuperHeadz Shironeko Cat Holga in a Can
This makes meowing noises!

Ikimono Camera
I actually saw this at Bashaar at Bras Basah Complex. Almost bought it..but couldn't decide which design to get. Limited choice anyway. I saw the cat design on a website but it was sold out. The item at this urbanoutfitters is blind-boxed so cannot choose which design you want.

SuperHeadz Secret Book Camera
A camera disguised as a book. So fun. Ha..

I can't wait till I'm rich enough to buy junk just because I LIKE IT.
