Curious findings

I noticed something at the office. Sitting at the pantry area was a glass-bowl-ful of sweets. I had a smaller glass bowl of sweets at my desk before I left on my long leave. I guess they missed my candy bowl enough to copy me. Hehheh.

Stumbled upon (clicking on links in blogs) this website "Stuff White People Like" and it looks interesting enough. There was this post about tattoos that White People like and this link to a website dedicated to "fingerstache". Hadn't even heard of it. =P People have tattoos of mustaches on their finger(s) so they can put it to their faces to look like they have mustaches. So funny. Ha..

Oh that reminds me of a story I heard on the radio a long time ago. There was this angmoh guy in America or somewhere who wanted to get a tattoo of his name in Chinese so he went to a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown and asked the Chinese restauranteur to help him translate his name. So the Chinese guy writes down the Chinese characters on a piece of paper for him. Angmoh guy goes and gets the tattoo. Few years later, the angmoh guy went to Thailand (or some asian country with beaches) and while on the beach, he noticed people laughing at him. Yah, obviously something to do with the tattoo right? Somebody ended his bewilderment by telling him his tattoo reads "可口可乐" (Coca Cola if you can't read the Chinese characters). Chinese guy with a sense of humour. Haha..

Oh I just read something super funny on e White People blog:

The second type of white person travel is Third World. This is when they venture to Thailand, Africa or South America. Some do it so that they can one up the white people who only go to Europe.

But like with Europe, white people like to believe they are the first white people to make this trip. As such, they should be recognized as special and important individuals.

That’s right, by going to a country, riding around on a bus or train, staying at a hotel or hostel and eating - they are doing something important for the world.

If a white person shows up in your country, you can make them feel fantastic by saying how you’ve never seen a white person before, and that you are amazed by their iPod - “a device that plays many songs? impossible!”

They might give it to you, then you can sell it for profit. Repeat as necessary.

New white stuff

Just started using my new white LG viewty. =) But don't know why its bluetooth won't connect to my comp. And I'm using a new 3G sim card so all my contacts are still in my old phone. I've only added a few contacts because I'm not used to the touchscreen yet. Am I supposed to format my microSD card first? Bah will try again tomorrow..

The other new white stuff is my super expensive white double neck guitar that a stranger bought for me on fb's rock legends. Heh.. It's the most expensive guitar available there and I had only been able to afford the second most expensive one. What a generous stranger. Ha..

Sigh..wish I can play with my phone.. Oh yah another new thing that's half white is my new pouch that I bought for my new phone.. It's white with green stripes and reminds me of Juno. =)

Bugger

Oh shit. I accidentally found really cute stuff that I want..

SuperHeadz Demekin Fisheye 110 Camera

Rolleiflex Mini Digital Camera
How cool (and cute) is this? Answer: Very!

A 5 Mega Pixel camera with autofocus technology, the Rollei Mini allows you to shoot from a distance of 4 inches to infinity, saving each image to a Mini SD Card.

SuperHeadz Shironeko Cat Holga in a Can
This makes meowing noises!

Ikimono Camera
I actually saw this at Bashaar at Bras Basah Complex. Almost bought it..but couldn't decide which design to get. Limited choice anyway. I saw the cat design on a website but it was sold out. The item at this urbanoutfitters is blind-boxed so cannot choose which design you want.

SuperHeadz Secret Book Camera
A camera disguised as a book. So fun. Ha..

I can't wait till I'm rich enough to buy junk just because I LIKE IT.

J'adore

I think this is sweet..

Rockin'

Been playing Rock Legends on fb. It's not that exciting but I like it. =) Satisfies my rock star craving. Haha.. Anyway I've levelled up quite a bit and just today these two people having been buying me out of my contract from the other. It's like record companies competing for a rock star. How cool. Haha.. I think it's just that having high level members in their band gives them advantages in battling bands and I'm oddly cheap to contract, compared to other high level people. They're helping to jerk up my price tag. =)

P/s: LHM, EQUIP YOUR KEYBOARDIST!

Little Miss

Been playing on fb a lot these couple weeks due to extreme boredom at work. Anyway, saw a pic that somebody tagged on a "friend" that had many little miss and mister men characters. I went to kaypoh and one of them was renamed as "the tiny and dangerous one". I didn't know there was a little miss tiny. Tiny and dangerous somemore. Sounds like me. Ha.. (And E. Page has the nickname "the tiny Canadian" =)) Don't know what the dangerous part was about, but I found the original series of Little Miss Tiny (Mr Men and Little Miss 1983) on youtube:

But she's pink.. I think I prefer Little Miss Curious:

"But, why...??" Sounds like me too. Ha..

The 1983 series sound like perfect bedtime stories... Oh yesterday I paid the cats downstairs a visit and I'm pretty sure they're the same old cats! The kitten still stares at me the same way. Ha.. Unfortunately, when I went to see them on my way home just now, with no food to distract them, the damn kitten (well, actually a kitten no more) started whining very loudly. Hasn't it gotten used to people already?? Ingrate.. Not sure why but I feel like the dumb "kitten" is a boy. Oh did I just answer my own question? =) Mommy cat just kept sniffing my hand to determine if it was something she wanted to eat. She really should have reincarnated as a piggy..

When I grow up I want to be like Ellen Page

Happy Birthday to Ellen Page! who turns 22 today. Ya, she's younger than me. But barely.. (Can I stay 24 forever? 25 sounds so old.. Boo..)

I've only seen two of her films but I absolutely Love Juno - which is pretty obvious - and I've liked Shadowcat aka Kitty Pryde in X-Men before she played the character in X-Men III: The Last Stand. I wasn't so sure I liked her as Kitty at the beginning of the movie, but eventually she really kicked ass and had some pretty cool lines. I think she called Juggernaut dickhead. =) Yes that's considered a cool line to me. Ha..

And after Heath Ledger's incident, I read that he was working on directing his very first film (or something close to that) and he intended to get or had asked Ellen Page to be in a starring role. So that definitely scores a lot of points. I hope I didn't hallucinate that article..

Plus, I've only heard/read good things about films that she did. I've been wanting to watch Hard Candy but didn't want to watch thrillers over Christmas.

I saw this picture >>>
while searching for pictures and found
this article saying
The star of teenage pregnancy drama comedy "Juno" Ellen Page is said to be cast in a new psychological thriller for Mandate Pictures. According to Variety, the acclaimed young actress is set to star alongside Cillian Murphy, the actor who portrayed Scarecrow in blockbuster superhero film "Batman Begins".
I kind liked him as scarecrow (the psycho) in Batman Begins. Heh. I like the his last scene where Batman scared him and he rode off on his horse like a scared little girl. Haha..

Oh she apparently has a nickname 'The Tiny Canadian".. She is 2 inches taller than me.

!!!

Oh my god. There're cats back at the same place downstairs! Not sure if they're the old ones or a new cat came to have kittens there (hot spot) or the same cat got pregnant again. The cat is making a lot of noise now.. A neighbour just fed it and left. I feel like going down to pay it a visit. Ha.. But I think the dying-down-meowing will just begin again. I'll visit it in the morning. =)

In other exciting news, I GOT MY HAMBURGER PHONE!! Pictures will come later because I haven't had a chance to take proper (or any) pictures of it.. And I wore my hamburger phone shirt today. =)

Tadaa!

"Spring cleaning"

I was looking at the blogs that I had favourited to clear those that I don't read anymore, and because I've read all my regular ones. I had intended to delete this one but I saw this post about Heath Ledger, dated same as my own on 22 Jan. Hers is a repost from 31 Jan, 2008. I agree with almost everything except I don't know Brad Renfro.

...For me when someone talented, interesting and special dies regardless of whether I knew them on a personal level, or admired their talent from a far, I grieve. The last two weeks have seen the death of two talented young men first Brad Renfro and then Heath Ledger. The minute I learned of each I had the same initial reaction.

1. Utter shock (stomach drops)

2. Disbelief (Heart races)

3. Curiosity (Reading as much as I could on initial reports)
...

I wonder why I don't read this blog often..

Oo tomorrow is the big lunch.. Yum.. =) I feel a little cheapskate. =P

Junoverse.com

I was surfing around for my "musique blog" and found some cool Juno stuff. =) How do I make an emoticon with a wider grin than that? If you click on the "ears" tab you can see some videos of Juno songs. They're really cute. The songs. And so's this (if it works):

Found here. I read in one of the youtube video comments that this commenter went to school with her. Why don't I have cool schoolmates like that? =P Oh I think I saw a pri sch classmate at lunch today. She didn't see me though. I met her in NUS few years ago so I know she remembers me.

I had put more of the jargon jenerator but they seem to all play the same clip so I'm putting the whole thing here.

When I previewed it it sounded like lots of Junos talking at the same time. Reminded me of Agent Smiths. Ha..

I think I fixed the code.. But they'd end up talking at the same time. Dang. Click on "fo shizz" yourself k?

I uploaded a few songs from the soundtrack into my phone and set one as my ringtone. I was listening to my mp3 player while walking to buy dinner and suddenly I was wondering why I was hearing 2 songs playing at the same time. Haha..

Oo I just found Juno hamburger phone widget.. I'm so going to get a hamburger phone. I think the funniest scene is where the father asked Juno who's the father and when she told him, he made a face and went, "Really?", like it's a damn weird choice and her best friend got excited and went, "Yeah! I know, right?" And Juno looked annoyed like, what's wrong with him? You have to watch it.

Yes, I'm obsessed and I care not!

In other news

I really hope wonderous things happen under Obama to prove naysayers, racist or otherwise, wrong. Coming from a person who knows next to nothing about politics and economics, I think him inspiring people to want to work harder and be better people is perhaps just as important as all the policy stuff.

Remember Me

Remember Me

To the living, I am gone
To the sorrowful, I will never return
To the angry, I was cheated
But to the happy, I am at peace
And to the faithful, I have never left
I cannot speak, but I can listen
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard
So as you stand upon the shore
Gazing at the beautiful sea, remember me
As you look in awe at a mighty forest
And its grand majesty, remember me
Remember me in your hearts,
In your thoughts, and the memories of the
Times we loved, the times we cried, the
Battles we fought and the times we laughed
For if you always think of me, I will
Have never gone.

Anon.

I was searching online for images and read a bit more about Heath L. and got sad again.. I think we were cheated of a talent. I hope remembering him does inspire me to not settle for mediocrity and make the most of myself. And I should do whatever I want that makes me happy, even if other people disagree. Screw them. Oh I wore all black and my joker card earrings today in remembrance. There are people I think who deserve to go more than him.. =X

Nostalgia

I was reading somebody's blog yesterday and she was talking about how she had her email add since she was 14 and she was looking at her old emails. I so want to look at my old emails! But my oldest emails are only from 2004 and most of them were just some forwarded mails. I can't remember any of my passwords to my old emails. I wanted to login to my neopets account but I can't remember the password and I can't even remember which email add I used to sign up for it. Urgh. Damn. Damn damn damn.. I had so many points and stuff in that account.

I lost internet connection for several months in Sec2 and lost contact with a couple people I had been emailing. I can't even remember some of their names. Oops. =P IRC was actually quite fun for talking to random-and-yet-not-so-random people..

It has oddly really felt like a new year

I can't believe my first post of the year was so boliao.. Oh well.

Fyi, since I just read the last comment, if you want to find a post containing something, you can type the keywords in the box on the top left corner of the blog and click search blog.

I was out with a friend, "Dawn", today and we were talking about getting English names. I bug people to get and yet I don't use one. =P I think I want somebody to do it with me. Ha.. I can't really decide on a name anyway but non-Chinese people really have trouble remembering my name so it's sometimes frustrating. Plus even Chinese people mishear my name. Somehow I can't bring myself to tell people verbally to call me Ye. It sounds too happy. =S It's just that it might be a little difficult to get used to another name. I was thinking about calling myself Tiny. Ha.. Many people like to call or refer to me as the small one but Small doesn't sound like a name. "Tiny" at least sounds a bit more name-like. But do I really want people who work under me in future (obviously in future) to call me that? Maybe I can spell it as Tyni..? Does that look like it's pronounced tee-nee?

On my way home I saw a couple of things that we talked about earlier and I felt like I was in the movie Bedtime Stories. The Adam Sandler movie where the bedtime stories his nephew and niece come up with happen in real life. I saw a cat in my neighbourhood, which had been almost completely devoid of cats for almost a month. The cats downstairs disappeared too. I quite missed them. And in my block's void deck, somebody was cutting a girl's hair. As in a proper haircut with the proper cloth thing that keeps the hair away from your clothes etc. ??? It was kinda weird..

Last of all, I'm very happy Heath Ledger won the best supporting actor in the Golden Globes for his role of Joker in The Dark Knight. Unfortunately I didn't watch the award show because I had a cold and went to bed early. I wore my "gambling" earrings which had on each side a dice and 2 cards, the top one being the Joker card and the back one an Ace to celebrate his win. I hope he wins the Oscar too because I think he deserves to win at least one Oscar. ...I hope I didn't just jinx it..

A pointless post

I suddenly remembered a pri sch classmate's name and searched her on facebook and amazingly I did find her. I think she's a doctor now. Well, she was only the smartest girl in school. But I thought she'd study overseas though. Oh but the most surprising thing is that we have a mutual friend! It's just somebody from aki I don't really talk to though. Ok the end. Night..

Colourful knee

I slipped and fell in the bathroom couple nights ago. There wasn't any bleeding (can't say the same for cursing) but my knee is blueblacked, with dark purple spots and there's a small patch of red. This is the same knee that I always rest my weight on on the bed when I close my windows. Ouch.

In other news, the polyclinic called my place and left a message that my results were out, asking me to collect them. I wasn't home so I couldn't ask if I need to see the doctor asap or they're just informing me, even though I already made an appointment for January. My original appointment was on next Tues though. Did I mention that I do hope I have the blood disorder? Otherwise I would have wasted my money on the tests and then what if they want to do more tests to see what went wrong with my blood if I don't have this blood disorder? And it's kinda cool to say I have a blood disorder. Ha.. I feel fine. I don't think I need medication or anything even if I have it. I just hope it doesn't cost me much more money. I know I have to pay the doctor's consultation fee again.

Yawn..so sleepy...zzz..

Yay!

From Getty Images

Yay! Bob won Survivor Gabon! Yay! I'm so happy! My precious sleep was well sacrificed. =) I slept less than 5 hours. Was yawning all day. But it was all worth it. Hurhur.. Omg I cried when Susie won that last immunity challenge and it looked like everybody was going to vote off Bob. Urgh she so didn't deserve to be there. All she could say in her attempt to win votes was that she tried. Like other people didn't try? And she only lost to Bob by one vote in the end! Urgh. She did nothing. People only voted for her because she did nothing, and thus did not need to lie to them. Thank goodness Randy voted for Bob and not her! Randy was pissed that Bob gave him a fake idol but in the end he realised Bob was only trying to save himself, did not intend to humiliate him, and was truly furious at how the others laughed at him. In a way, he stuck to his "alliance" with Marcus, Charlie and Corrine to the end.

I don't know why Matty seems to be angry with Sugar.. She was just giving Bob a chance (which I'm thankful for. ha..) and Matty lost the tie-breaker himself. I thought he would vote for Sugar. Sugar did come up with some really good schemes and outwitted.

Oh I'm also very happy that Nick and Star won the Amazing Race. I can't believe the team I supported from the beginning won in the end. Unfortunately, Toni and Dallas, the other team I like, lost their money and passport in the second last leg and lost a top three spot. They weren't even there in the finale because of the lost passport (I guess). Pity..

Yay for good people!

Survivor

I just watched the repeat telecast of Survivor again. Heh. That was definitely the bestest tribal council I remember! Although I don't really remember many from previous seasons.. It's the finale next week. I hope Bob wins! I don't think he needs the money but he definitely deserves the title. He was almost voted out quite a few times but his alliances always got voted out before him and things changed in his favour. He's good and even has luck on his side. I think he already has 3 definite votes on the jury. Everybody loves Bob. Except maybe Randy..who is looking really funky with his new haircut. Ha..

Looking forward to next week! Fingers crossed...

Turning around

I just watched the best episode of the current season of Survivor to date! Hurhurhur... The evil people are finally being voted out! Yay! It was so exciting. Crossing my fingers hoping things go the way I want. Sugar said she doesn't care if the strongest person in the game stays because she thinks it should be a good person who wins in the end. I absolutely agree. It's so nice that people in the game think that too. I hope Bob wins!

Good things are happening.. Not great and fantastic, but good enough (for me) to hint that 2009 might indeed be way, way better than 2008. Fingers crossed. My blood test results aren't out yet but I won't be collecting the results till January so I can ignore it for a bit. Unless it's really bad and they call me up to tell me. Eh...I hope not. Actually I'm hoping I do have the blood disorder so I didn't just waste my money. Just hope that it's not a serious problem. Preferably that I don't even need medication or anything.

Oh my foreign friend just had twins last month! They were premature but are doing better now. So exciting. Too bad I can't see them. Is it me or are a lot of people getting pregnant and having babies? I just saw in the papers that Ricky Martin has twins from a surrogate. Dooce is pregnant too. Maybe so many people died because of the baby boom these few years..

Last night I went downstairs to buy something and fed the cat and kitten on my way. The runaway kitten ran away again. Guess it was bored. Or maybe taken? Since it's so cute and friendly. When I came back the food was all finished and I tried to play with the kitten to see if it's still scared of people. Yes it is. It always backs away in the way that its head and neck moves back but most of the rest of its body doesn't move. Maybe because it was dark and it couldn't see clearly that it was my hand, it was curious about my hand and used its paws to prod me. I thought I'd be scratched but the nails weren't out and they were just soft. So cute.

The blogger whose blog I took this from stole it off the internet too. Heh.

Out of order

Bugger. My blood test apparently showed my anemia got worse. So now the doctor wants me to do the proper test for Thalassemia (or Thalassamia or Thalassaemia). I now know the name of the blood disorder because it's on the slip of paper. I was supposed to have another doctor but I was the very last patient and the previous doctor finished earlier than the doctor I was supposed to see. Still very crappy =P but nice lah. He remembered me as the one who wrote the symptoms on the paper. He still suspected I have Thalassemia and tried to explain what it was. Something about alpha and beta... I forgot what it has to do with drowning but I remember something about being breathless very easily. I think the point was that I'll take longer to recover from anything. To which I kept saying, so this thing is quite harmless right? He still insists on having me take the test to confirm it. Which means yet another blood test. Damnit. More blood?? I asked if they could just use the blood that they just took and he went, ah, it's the needles! And he helped me call the lab to ask if they had any of my blood left. Bugger. They didn't. And it was too late to take today so I have to go back on Tues and then go again a week later for the results.

After some googling on the blood disorder, I learned that there's Thalassemia major and Thalassemia minor. Most likely I have minor. The doctor also said if it's only found out now then it must not be very severe. People with Thalassemia major need to have blood transfusions rather frequently. Sounds like that rich crazy girl's disease in Huang Jin Lu. For Thalassemia minor, I don't really know what treatment it needs. Hopefully nothing.. Probably just to make sure I don't get too severe anemia? Oh wikipedia says Studies have shown that Thalassemia Minor often coexists with other diseases such as asthma, and mood disorders. Hmm.

How come I've had blood tests before and nothing showed up before? This blood disorder is supposed to be genetic. If I don't have it I'm going to be annoyed to have spent so much money on these tests.

This year totally blows.
