Yay! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yay! was my reaction when Heidi addressed Laura second on Project Runway. I think Jeffrey said she was like the evil stepmother early in the show before. That stupid woman actually said she wanted to win just so Jeffrey wouldn't. What the hell. Dream on. Anyway I liked Uli's and Jeffrey's collections so I didn't mind either winning. Erm I don't understand why the people interview after the runway show supported Michael. His final collection was quite bad? Some of the pieces look like the same design in different colours. Even if he had good designs previously doesn't erase the fact that his final collection...was bad. Sorry..

Actually I thought Uli would win cos hers were very pretty. I like her first half collection. Thought Jeffrey's blue dresses were going to do him in. Maybe if they were striped they would tie in with the rest of his collection. So funny the judges referred to them as the "nightmare" in his concept of Japanese comic/manga nightmares and demons. Yay I'm so happy he won! Yay yay yay...

I finally plucked up enough courage to book a dental appointment. Found a forum for Singapore brides where they discussed about dentists and clinics and this dentist is supposed to be very gentle and skilful. The girl on the phone was very friendly also so I hope it won't be too painful... The dentist was actually in the NTUC denticare and now he has his own clinic so must be quite good. Plus he's so popular that the next available appointment for me was 9 Jan loh. But I told the girl I don't have my timetable yet so she let me have the 10 Jan evening slot. Cross my fingers...hope I won't need too much work done...

I have a question. How come so many people were traumatised by their primary school dentists? There were several on the forum who had phobia of dentists b'cos of bad experiences. Me too! So happy to have found the forum 'cos there are people like me. Heh.. The clinic girl said my problems were very common so I feel so much relieved. Phew. 20 days to my dental appointment...

Xmas season. Make a wish..

Check out the Xmas edition of 3 Little Pigs (video) on this blog ( http://opequenomundo.blogspot.com/ ). Very cute. Quite predictable lah, but still cute. I like the last part at the window. Also look at the December 15 post, the Chanel Nicole Kidman ad. How come we don't have such beautiful and elaborate ads here? Even in that tiny screen it's still so beautiful. At least I think it's an ad lah. I don't really know what language that blog is in. I don't think it's french or german. Spanish? Italian? Hope I'll have a chance to work overseas in future. Better still, have the means to have ultra long holidays, plus have a companion or companions. If I can afford to pay for them then wah, I must be filthy rich. I doubt I can be filthy rich on my own though. So the only way is to marry rich. Any rich decent gay guy need a smokescreen?

Oh the blog guy's from Portugal so Portuguese? Oh he likes Love Actually. Me too! But he likes Titanic too. Hmm. I liked the part where the drawing of Rose has my birthdate on it. Ha.. I like the bits about Titanic and the passengers more than the love story. Anyway. Yay I'm so happy Channel 5 is finally showing it. Although I've seen it 3 times. I wonder if I can get the uncensored version here. They actually cut off one love story between a couple who met on the set of a porn film. I know this cos I read its screenplay. Wonder what the complete film looks like... Did I mention the boy is so cute?

Art of Solitude

I guess this sounds strange coming from a blogger, but why don't people believe in solitude anymore? It has always bugged me, this depressing need to be around people all the time, to have them comfort you and massage your ego. What is wrong with just saying 'I want some time alone'? I guess the art of solitude died when the age of communication began. Now we feel that we can be with people all the time, via the internet/mobile phone/whatever.

It took me an age to eventually buy a mobile phone. I thought of them as a metaphorical umbilical cord. I felt that people were using them as if to say: 'Yes, I have friends. I know people. I feel safe.' By talking on the phone all the time, they were making up for their own insecurities. It is a very public way to demonstrate that you are actually a very popular, interesting person. See how interesting I am, people want to talk to me all day long.

I can also never understand why people feel they need to be around each other all the time. Whether it be partners/friends/family, what is wrong with just taking some time out for yourself? Time to read. Time to think. Time to do something creative. Why do we need to feel wanted all the time? Is it something about our insecurity? Who knows. The stupid thing is, I am writing this hoping that someone will read it and ease my insecurities. See, I am a failed sad loner.

good question. you seem to have answered it well though, people are too insecure to be able to be comfortable with themselves so they must constantly be surrounded by others.

You miserable bastard.

Good for you!

I think blogging is different because it is something you can do in solitude and, if you choose, absolute anonymity. Most people that come over to your blog and start reading will probably do so because they are of a like mind and see something they might be interested in, or someone they might want to get to know.

I'm a miserable old curmudgeon myself, so I enjoy my me time- especially reading. I think it is very important to be able to have that time to yourself.

By the way- It is better to be a failed sad loner than a succesful one.

Thanks aliemalie, I think we have become increasingly insecure as time has gone on. I wish I could spend more time exploring the reasons why this might be so, but I can't.

Neath - What can I say.........yay for me time!! And as for a failed sad loner......I think it was one of my heroes who said:

'I miss the comfort in being sad.'

I feel the same way, I just like being by myself most of the time. I and felt the exact same way about cell phones and how people used them. I still feel this way, even though I now have one. I didn't get mine to be mr. popular, it was simply just need. I hardly use it, only when I have no other choice. But I guess we are social creatures and are required to be around people all of the time. But for myself, I would just like to be alone most of the time. :)

The voice of experience

The new priest is nervous about hearing confessions, so he asks a more experienced priest to sit in on his sessions. After the new priest hears his first two confessions, the experienced priest asks him to step out of the confessional for a moment for a couple of suggestions: "Try crossing your arms over your chest, maybe rub your chin with one hand, try saying things like 'Yes, I see,' 'Yes, go on,' or 'I understand'." The new priest tries them out, still a bit awkward, but yes, these could work.

"Now," says the experienced priest, "don't you think that is a little better than slapping your knee, laughing out loud, and saying, 'No way ... what happened next?' "

The Spider and the Fly

Will you walk into my parlour?" said the Spider to the Fly,
'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to shew when you are there."
Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair can ne'er come down again."

"I'm sure you must be weary, dear, with soaring up so high;
Will you rest upon my little bed?" said the Spider to the Fly.
"There are pretty curtains drawn around; the sheets are fine and thin,
And if you like to rest awhile, I'll snugly tuck you in!"
Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "for I've often heard it said,
They never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed!"

Said the cunning Spider to the Fly, " Dear friend what can I do,
To prove the warm affection I 've always felt for you?
I have within my pantry, good store of all that's nice;
I'm sure you're very welcome -- will you please to take a slice?"
"Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "kind Sir, that cannot be,
I've heard what's in your pantry, and I do not wish to see!"

"Sweet creature!" said the Spider, "you're witty and you're wise,
How handsome are your gauzy wings, how brilliant are your eyes!
I've a little looking-glass upon my parlour shelf,
If you'll step in one moment, dear, you shall behold yourself."
"I thank you, gentle sir," she said, "for what you 're pleased to say,
And bidding you good morning now, I'll call another day."

The Spider turned him round about, and went into his den,
For well he knew the silly Fly would soon come back again:
So he wove a subtle web, in a little corner sly,
And set his table ready, to dine upon the Fly.
Then he came out to his door again, and merrily did sing,
"Come hither, hither, pretty Fly, with the pearl and silver wing;
Your robes are green and purple -- there's a crest upon your head;
Your eyes are like the diamond bright, but mine are dull as lead!"

Alas, alas! how very soon this silly little Fly,
Hearing his wily, flattering words, came slowly flitting by;
With buzzing wings she hung aloft, then near and nearer drew,
Thinking only of her brilliant eyes, and green and purple hue --
Thinking only of her crested head -- poor foolish thing! At last,
Up jumped the cunning Spider, and fiercely held her fast.
He dragged her up his winding stair, into his dismal den,
Within his little parlour -- but she ne'er came out again!

And now dear little children, who may this story read,
To idle, silly flattering words, I pray you ne'er give heed:
Unto an evil counsellor, close heart and ear and eye,
And take a lesson from this tale, of the Spider and the Fly.

Poet unknown. But wise. =)

Morning Poem
© By Danielle D. Curtis

Woke early one morning,
the earth lay cool and still,
when suddenly a tiny bird,
perched on my window sill,
it sang a song so lovely,
so carefree and so gay,
that slowly all my troubles,
began to slip away,
it sang of far off places,
of laughter and of fun,
it seemed his very song,
brought out the morning sun,
I pulled back the covers,
and crept slowly out of bed,
and gently shut the window,
and crushed his freaking head,
I'm not a morning person

So funny. Hahaha.. I found this website http://silivren.net/dop/main.html about the hobbits, but only includes Pippin, Merry and Frodo. Apparently the owner doesn't fancy fat hobbits. Ha.. Actually it was only for Pippin =) called Dreaming of Pippin but it was remade and the other two were added. Under the "Fun" link, there are lists of 10 reasons to love each of the hobbits. The other 2 lists are kinda lacklustre compared to Pippin's.

10 reasons to love Pippin

1. His accent. Scottish guys have the best accents!
2. He's cute. Come on, he's adorable and you know it!
3. His sense of humor. You can't deny that we all want a guy who's not always serious.
4. He's loyal. This is a BIG plus, we don't a guy who's not loyal, what's the point.
5. He can sing. He has the voice of an angel.
6. You get a 2 for 1 special. Let's face it, him and Merry don't like being separated.
7. His look. You know you want to go up and hug and kiss him! You can't deny it!
9. He's outgoing. He always gets in trouble and jumps at the chance for an adventure.
10. Everything! You know you want him!

Number 6 sounds so gay! But it's funny. Ha..

Wow 89% for Ian McKellen and 98% for Hugo Weaving. Maybe I'm supposed to be intelligent. Because I think they're intelligent people. Right? I used "supposed to be" just to show that I'm capable of being humble. Haha...

Anyway from there you can find your best celebrity matches and I have no idea who these people are. Except maybe Bow Wow.

Boris Titulaer 99%
Devon Sawa 99%
Robert Pattinson 98%
Giuseppe Andrews 96%
Bow Wow 93%

But since it's according to biorhythms I just need to find the same birthdates. Ha..
Oh Devon Sawa is the guy in Final Destination. Robert Pattinson was in Harry Potter but I have no idea who he is even after seeing his pic. As you can see I'm extremely bored at home and have nothing better to do. Boss please finish your thesis chapters soon... Oh! Did Bow Wow act in Like Mike? Yah, he was a cute boy in there.

Oh I watched Happy Feet after my last paper on 28 Nov, while many were still mugging away. Ha.. Still very much prefer Flushed Away. Flushed Away is So Funny! Happy Feet was quite funny also lah, but the front part wasn't very entertaining. Robin Williams is damn funny. He totally saved the film. The Amigos aka the Latin Penguins and Lovelace were the highlights of the film. Robin Williams is really hilarious. I knew I would enjoy his performance. There was another Latin Penguin who was quite funny too. Was it Raul? Robin Williams was Ramon. Raul is voiced by Lombardo Boyar. I was surprised Brittany Murphy could sing so well.

The story is pretty long and it had a really serious message, which was the point of the film I guess. Towards the beginning of the end I kept wondering if it was going to have a sad ending. There were many parts where it looked like it was going to end. But of course it had a Happy ending. Oh the animations were quite amazing. Very realistic and the clouds and lighting were just beautiful. But the Leopard Seal seriously did not need to look that realistic 'cause it was really pretty gross and scary.

Lovelace: Ladies, please avert your eyes... 'cause I've been known to hypnotize.

Lombardo: What are you gonna do? Subject him to cruel and unusual punishment?
Raul: Unimaginable torture?
Lombardo: Imaginable torture?
Raul: Your singing?

Happy things

I am so happy! (!!) (Which reminds me, I was extremely happy yesterday that all 4 designers got into the finals, instead of eliminating one. !! Hurrah! So exciting. Can't wait to see what they came up with. I wonder if Laura is going to give birth before or after or during the show. Ha..)

Anyway I just took an online career test thing and here is part of my results:

While each job has its own unique set of tasks, most jobs involve one of three general work categories: Data, Objects, or Ideas. Work Tasks measures the type of work you most enjoy.

You most prefer working with Ideas

You take great pleasure in brainstorming creative ideas and having discussions about abstract concepts, which are activities that often involve collaborating with your colleagues. Not overly concrete, you'd rather be the one who comes up with the ideas than the one to figure out how to implement them. With a preference for creativity and theory, you probably have little desire to work with numbers or data.

Although you may not currently be in an occupation that involves working with ideas, being good at thinking creatively and channeling different theories and concepts into actionable ideas will help you excel in this area. You may want to explore Idea-heavy occupations such as an advertising copywriter, architect, a software developer, or a writer.

Hurrah... I wonder why I screwed up in aki though. Hm.

Early mornings...

...are rewarded with Hossan.

Ha.. This week almost everyday have to wake up early to work in school.. I don't mind working but I prefer to sleep in in the morning. At least in the morning can listen to Hossan Leong on Power 98. (Yay. Ha..) Playing the Flushed Away games at their website is making me lose sleep. =P But they're quite fun. There are 25 games, which will allow you to earn a bubble to burst and then after that you answer a question using the letters in the bubbles. Something like that. But after each game you are also able to download some stuff, like audio tracks, pics etc. Reminds me of my new media module about interactive media, how the companies try to get people interested in their websites and products by having such gimmicks and "rewards". Oh anyway, the exact words of "Nemo" in Flushed Away is 'Have you seen my dad?'

Love the screaming slugs. Aaahhhh!!!

Singing slugs and evil laughs

J'adore Flushed Away!! It's great. So so soo funny! Be still, my heart.

Damn I can't find a pic online of the Toad on the phone with the mime. It's hilarious. Couldn't stop laughing. Ha.. I really didn't know Ian McKellen and Hugh Jackman can be so funny and so cute. Ha.. Goes to show how versatile my favourite actors are. And what good sense of humour! Haha.. Even though I couldn't really imagine them doing such voice performances before this, I could easily recognise Ian McKellen's voice. Think his voice is quite unique. I couldn't really recognise Hugh Jackman's voice at first even though I knew that voice is his. But after a while could recognise his voice lah. Dunno if it's because he used a slightly higher pitch than his normal voice for this movie. Read that in a review online somewhere. Anyway the movie is extremely funny! Must must must must must must watch. I don't mind watching it again. Heh. Can't wait for the DVD to come out. Can't wait to buy the soundtrack! The music is great. LOVE the singing slugs. At first they seem kinda gross, but they're just so silly and *musically-inclined* that I find them super cute now. According to Min I can imitate them quite well. Ha..

But I love the toads more. They're damn funny. Ian McKellen is seriously hilarious. My favourite scene, as mentioned, is the one with the Toad (Ian McKellen) on the phone with the miming french toad. You have to see it to know it. His evil laughter is just super funny. Didn't know Ian McKellen can be so silly and corny. Haha. Le Frog and his hedgemen are quite funny too. Makes me want to relearn and improve my french. Heh. "Le fruitcake" apparently means loony according to Le Frog. So funny how they kept poking fun of the English. One scene showed a World Cup Final match between Germany and England and the TV frame 2 English players at the goal post and another English player kicking the ball in. So silly. There are many intertextual references in the movie. The online review I read said you have to watch several times to catch them all. Some are quite obvious lah, like the review's example of Roddy (Hugh Jackman) choosing between Elvis and Wolverine outfits. I caught the reference to Finding Nemo. When Roddy was washed down the sewage a fish asked him if he's seen his dad (or asked him where his dad was). Some of it couldn't recognise exactly where they were from but were kinda cliche movie scenes type. The slugs are damn funny. If you watch the movie you'll know why I mention this here.

Oh the game at http://flushedaway.aol.com is fun too. Heh.

Yesterday I watched The Departed. Bleah it was bad.. Don't know if it was because I knew the story but I felt it was very dreary. Very unlike the Hong Kong version, which had very clean, bright pictures. In my impression I think.. Matt Damon and Andy Lau damn different loh. Andy Lau was very shuai, slick, charismatic..was Matt Damon ever considered shuai? I know it's because of the Boston context lah, but it was very sian for me..not exciting at all. Leonardo DiCaprio looked quite psycho in most of the film loh. Why is he so high-strung? Don't see any of the other gangsters being so uptight like him. Think he emoting much too much.. But I liked the beginning and ending. Don't think the HK one really showed their past much in the beginning right? I only remember they showed a bit in the police academy. The Departed showed how Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson met and more of their past relationship. The ending was quite funny. Ha.. I liked the rhythm of it. Shall not spoil it for those who are going to watch it.

Oh one aspect of the film I liked was how the sound they made when they closed their flip phones. I like the clicking sound. Ha.. My phone makes the sound too. Yay. Haha.. But I felt it was kind of weird that they communicated through sms. Thought they'll have some more intelligent communication methods. Like Tony Leung's morse code. I thought it was quite clever that the wires were put outside the window.

One major huge complaint I have is that there is too freaking much blood. The excessive cursing, usage of the f-word and crude insults I can accept but the blood was eww... Especially Jack Nicholson's death loh. I didn't even watch that part. Jack Nicholson is really convincingly disgusting in the film. Ha..that was a compliment..

Selling blood

Didn't realise I haven't been here for so long.. Urgh I just had another puke blood tuition session. She forgot everything again. These very mean things kept running in my head.. "Are you stupid or just extremely not smart?" "Are you blind or are you blind?" The answer is right in front of her if she'd use her eyes and brain a bit more. I want a more intelligent student before I become stupid too.

Silence does not mean consent

Just because I do not bother to speak up (which I really really probably should) and clarify and right the misconceptions people have of me doesn't mean I agree or acknowledge it as the truth. The palmist I consulted (is "palmist" a real word?) said I'm often misunderstood. How sad that it is true. Isn't it sad that the only one who understands me is the fortue teller? He said I'm too blunt and straightforward and that I should tell more white lies (haha) and sing more praises and a third thing I can't remember. And that I think too much and miss out many opportunities. But if I do not think enough I'll say or do stupid things. Which I might regret more than missing out whatever opportunities. I think I'm thinking too much again. Haha.. Anyway in his "analysis" there are many "contradictions". But it shows more of me having a complicated character than his inaccuracy 'cause they all make sense to me. I'm a risktaker and I'm also conservative but they are in different aspects. I think the important thing is that he told me my palms are those of a successful person. Haha.. He said a lot of things lah so it was definitely worth my money. Heh.

I forgot what was the point of this post. Oops. Today my project group walked 1 hour looking for this particular HDB block where the corridor is perfect for our shot in the video that we're supposed to do for our project. I guess it was worth it because it really was perfect. I hope it turned out ok. Hope the whole video turns out as artistic as we hope..

A B C...

Ooo..I just heard a very cool rendition of the ABC song on Sesame Street by a black lady. Very diva-ish. Ha. Actually it's not really a version of the old ABC song, she just sings the ABCs etc.. But it was very good, I love it. Heh, I love how Bert always gets annoyed by Ernie. Haha. Sometimes at the end will have a short segment of Oscar reading bedtime story from The Adventures of Trash Gordon to his pet worm Slimey. And after the story Slimey will go Yayy..!Read more! Read more! in his little sqeaky voice. So cute. Heh.

Ghost of me

I was having (actually still having..) an online discussion on msn when i had to go offline for a while so I left and went back. After waiting for a while (expecting somebody to add me to the conversation again, which nobody did) I asked one of them to add me. Turns out "I" was still in the conversation and they could still see "me" inside. In the end had to sign out and sign in again loh.

Oh our "project" is to find examples of good and bad designs and our bad design is supposed to be this pair of hot and cold water taps. It's supposed to be bad because the cold water tap turns in the opposite direction of the hot water (and also conventional) tap. The conventional tap turns on the anticlockwise direction. Somebody found this example somewhere and everybody agreed on it but I only seriously looked at it now because I'm doing up the slides and it only became clear to me because somebody illustrated it on the slide (as opposed to all description previously, in which I got lost in the clockwises and anticlockwises).

But after looking at it, I think the design is actually good! The design allows for ease of usage when using both hands. Notice that it's a "downward" direction when you are turning the handles when using both hands. This "downward" direction is like pushing down the handle of a door (grip kind). When you turn a knob on a door, right hand and left, which direction do you naturally use? You don't turn anti-clockwise with your right hand, right? Or clockwise with your left.

And I just realised...I turn on the tap with my left hand and turn it off with my right. It's such a smart design! But I suppose people are used to only one tap per sink usually so it doesn't occur to them yet that the designer is really making our lives easier.

There was this example of a bad design in our readings. Ok, actually it's not "design" they mean but actually interface. Which I think what they mean by bad interfaces are designs that do not communicate well with new users. I guess this then justifies our bad example. So anywho, the example in our reading is this projector has only one button. I think you're supposed to fit some physical slides or papers into it and it goes forward or backwards. So a short tap on the button moves the slides forward and holding it longer is reverse. So the problem was that it had no instructions on the projector itself and students (and lecturer) did not know how to use it and often resulted in a mess-the papers etc are ejected. But I think the logic of this machine is that when you are presenting, you just need to tap lightly on the button without having a need to look down at which button you should press. Isn't that a good thing? No distractions during presentation? It's a good design!

So poor thing, these designers. They obviously put in a lot of thought to make our lives easier and yet people do not appreciate them. Are users thinking too much or too little?

Saw that quote somewhere just now. And that is precisely why I do not like to open my mouth. And I really did not need a reminder of that. Hai.

YOU ARE ENTITILED TO YOUR WRONG OPINION

Saw this on a vehicle just now. Haha. Wanted to take a photo but the bus I was on had to stop.

I was in CD Rama just now and I saw this album that said John Stevens with the side view of a face that I couldn't recognise and I wondered if it was that John Stevens from American Idol. It was. I didn't even know he had an album. Was quite surprised. And I bought it. Oops..squandering money... I liked his voice when he was in American Idol. Too bad he seems to be only able to sing one genre. But I still like his voice. He's a young old man. Ha.

Was late for my very first lecture. Oops. I shall be hardworking starting tonight, wednesday night. Cos I have no lessons on Thursday so no distractions. After all, it's my life I'm screwing up...

I hope I won't be too busy this sem to study hard.. Almost forgotten what it's like to study hard. Was giving tuition just now (thank god she is really finally improving, though still quite slow) and was thinking how in jc yr1 I was so hardworking-ly doing math questions in tys from early afternoon till it was dark in my room. I was practically doing all the questions in the chapter. And then I remember the moment I looked at my A level results. Haii.......... I still remember Cat Ang (Econs teacher) was so so happy with my econs results. She was so excited when we were queuing up to get our slip. She asked me if I had a tutor (which sounded kinda foreign to me cos I never had a tutor) and she gave me such a big hug. I was thinking if I got a C and she is this excited then I'll be damn insulted. Haha. Hai I wish I got A for math and B for econs instead... Wah lao I really experienced a mini "qing tian pi li" loh. I guess I should have prepared myself for that ba. I was only prepared to do badly for the other subjects. I think I disappointed my math teacher too. Sian. Argh. So frustrating.

Oh this morning I suddenly remembered I still owe Chee Kiang cd. Oops. I don't think he's going to get it from me after all.. Very paiseh and awkward to give him now also. And I don't think I remember my construction details to finish it. Don't want him to use it as bad example anyway. =P

Shall go to sleep now...

Hot pink taxi sightings!

Today I saw a hot pink taxi! Ok, technically that was yesterday. Don't recall if I've seen it in Singapore before. Reminded me of the hot pink taxis in Bangkok. I think I was the only one fascinated by them. Ha.. Bangkok roads are so much more colourful cos of their bright coloured taxis. There were, as mentioned, Hot Pink (heh), red, bright green, bright orange, yellow-and-green, red-and-blue, etc.. Happy colours. Ha. Xx was saying they are representative of their gay culture. I prefer to call it their colourful culture.. Oh! We happened to take one of the hot pink taxis. How fun. Haha.

Here kitty kitty...

Your Ideal Pet is a Cat

You're both aloof, introverted, and moody.
And your friends secretly wish that you were declawed!

Hohoho... There are 4 cute little kittens who are less than 2 weeks old at the aloha resort. So cute!! The mother cat is very pretty too. Wonder who the father is. 2 of the kittens look like e mum, tiger-stripped-like, one is black with some white and one is a little black and white and some browns. Actually the staff found the kittens and didn't see the mum and they took them to our office for us to see. And then later I went to a bungalow to put some stuff, wandered to the living room and saw the cat under a table. After that I mentioned that I saw a cat that looks like e 2 kittens and the colleagues in the office said the kittens were found there and told me to check if she's still there. So we took the kittens there reunited them. So the mother was waiting for her kittens there. So touching. At first we put the box in which the kittens were in on the floor to see if she recognised the scent of her kids but she had no reaction. So we took out one and she immediately came towards it. Then we took out all the kittens and the mother looked kinda surprised to see all her kids come out of the box. Ha.. They seemed excited and cos the kids were very hungry ba. Heh that day we stayed back after work to play with them. Ha. Yesterday went back office and took lots of photos and videos. Heh. But also because I accidentally left my phone in the office so had to go back to collect it anyway. =P

Can see the kittens again later...

Stared at Adrian Pang a few metres away for 2 hours. Hohoho...

I recently won tics to The Dresser! And they were for the third row seats. From the front. So cool! I'm still not sure if the bottom seats are better or not but it was damn cool to be so near the stage. So close to the actors! Didn't spot any pimples. Ha... Was so thrilled to see Adrian Pang so close. I thought the tics would be for seats far far away. Our seats were at the end of the row though. But it was still very good to me. The theatre was quite small so it wasn't really that big a difference ba. Tics are on sale $35-$50. Still, so close... Wow...

I went to collect the tics only on wed and I was expecting movie tics cos the sms notification only said I won a pair of tics to Dresser. Couldn't remember at all what Dresser was about so I thought it was just a movie. And then I saw the lady bring out sistic tics and I was even more puzzled as to what I had won. Then more shock when I saw the date was for friday. Hmm, maybe if I went to collect earlier I would have gotten better seats. But it was still cool. Feel very arty and grown-up seeing and being with the people there. Ha... Cool... The play itself was very English and erm.. "grown-up", in the words of Tracie Pang, the director and Mrs A. Pang. Was funny and sad. I think I still prefer A Twist of Fate though. I like that story and performance. Funny and many twists. Ha. But I think The Dresser had very clever lighting and set design. And cos we were closer to the stage we could see everything they did. Sir really did drink the tea that Adrian Pang, the dresser, made and fed him. They had a fake fireplace which the kettle sat and he poured water from there into the teapot and poured milk and stirred and fed him. And he drank. Ew... I didn't say that out loud but I made a face. Ha.. Actors very poor thing ah.

Fun fun fun... =)

Reply to ting ting...

Yes of course I know. Ha... Remember earlier on Prof X was teaching in the class? Discussing some ethical stuff about this guy in a coma for four years or something. Apparently Prof X went into his body loh. If you meant the chess scene with Magneto then it means that The Cure is not permanent and their powers are returning to them...

Yah it was a little disappointing.. But the ending is great! So at least got redeeming quality ba. X2 is still more exciting and re nao...

World Cup fever

Temperature here is not very high... I'm only interested in watching Germany play anyway. It's half-time now in the first match between Germany and Costa Rico and Germany scored the first goal just after 5 minutes. CR scored in 12' and Germany again in 17'. So fast. Ha.. Anw, I like Oliver Kahn from the last World Cup in 2002 but this time he's only keeper no. 2. So sad... (I think I just saw Oliver Kahn in an Adidas ad.) Was shocked and disappointed to read that he wasn't the first choice but the other guy is the same age as Kahn, 36 I think, and that's not young so I guess he deserves a chance too. Supposedly his past matches were flawless while Kahn has had 2 mistakes or something like that. As I said, I only watch Germany so I know nuts about football really. But in a friendly match between Germany and Japan about a week or so before, they tied at 2-2. Diao. How good is that goalkeeper? Oliver Kahn was so good the last World Cup. Maybe not so good in the final match, but still... He was injured after all. Second is good too... Oh well. If that guy is good then I guess Germany has very good defence, having 2 great goalkeepers.

Good luck to Germany!!

Premonition?

Last night, or rather, this morning, I dreamt that Fiona Xie committed suicide. Think somehow she was a friend in the dream. Ha. Anw, so we, in the dream, were all shocked cos we didn't know what possible reasons there could be for her to want to die so it was pretty much a mystery. I don't really remember much of the dream cos I was too tired. Was working late the last few days. But the main point here is that just now I was reading 8 Days and there was this article about a new Ch5 sitcom starring Adrian Pang and Fiona Xie. In this sitcom, Fiona Xie plays a ghost who doesn't remember how she died and/or who she was. That's a little spooky... Anw, for those interested, Adrian Pang plays a ghostbuster who helps her find out about her past and she in turn helps him in his business. It's called Maggie and Me.

Flights of Freedom

Warning: Do not read if you do not want to know what happened in X-Men III The Last Stand. But a word of advice, do stay till after the credits cos there'll be a small pot of gold at the end of the black and white rainbow...

The third and supposedly last installment of the X-Men saga promised more action off the ground. First flight, the introduction of Angel, with the gorgeous white wings, and pretty face and fabulous abs. Ha. Storm, Magneto, Jean Grey aka The Pheonix (and even Professor X) also take flight and are able to "hover" at least.

On that subject, I recently saw an episode of the comic on tv where Angel first sees Rogue flying and he asks her, looking bewildered and innocent, "How do you fly without wings?" I think Ben Foster captured Angel's innocence and curiosity of other mutants veryy well. A review on FIRST also commented that "the roles of Angel and Kitty Pryde have been perfectly cast". I think his pretty face helps too. Ha.. Anw, it was after the movie that I understood that its because of his father that he did not have any contact with other mutants, thus his curiosity and lack of understanding of other mutants. Angel's character is so sweet. Pity he only had a small part.

Speaking of parts, I dislike Halle Berry. Supposedly she refused to reprise her role as Storm unless she got a bigger part. Duh. Storm is such a boring character. Powerful and important no doubt, but she doesn't have an interesting story nor any special relationship with any character. Boring. And, X-Men is plural. X-men is about all the mutants. Actually I don't feel that the X-Men refers only to those fighting the good fight behind Professor X. I feel that X-Men refers to all the mutants, regardless of their alliances. It felt weird when "X-Men" came out of Wolverine's mouth just now. But somehow it's not weird coming from Professor X. Hmm. Anyway I feel X-Men is about all the mutants, whatever their stand. Both Professor X and Magneto want mutants to unite but perhaps differ in their tolerance in the ignorant mere mortals. Point here is, how can Halle Berry demand for a bigger part when her character has nothing to offer?? Of course the movie needs Storm, but even after adding more scenes for her, I still don't see why her name deserves to be on the movie poster. The name on the poster should have been Famke Janssen's. She totally stole it from her. Selfish b. Or it could have been Sir Ian McKellen's. To all the superficial shallow people who want to exclaim that he is old, Shame. Why in the world would I want to idolise some deliciously good looker without wisdom and maturity? No doubt there are talented youngsters around but I know for a fact that with experience and age they'll be even better. And that's what he is. If his being knighted for all his good works says nothing, then there is nothing I, a mere mortal, can say. And here's sticking out my tongue at you.

Back to the movie, I think I still prefer X2. X2 is so much more exciting, more action, more effects, so much cooler.. N there's Nightcrawler! He's cool. Love his powers. This third installment has a better story though. But at one point I started to hate the movie. In the battle on the island, when Wolverine, Storm and Beast, aka "furball", saw The Cure shots lying on the ground in front of them, the voices in my head sounded like this: "No, no. Don't do it! I'm going to hate you if you do it. No......" An old soft drink advertisement about this guy who climbed up the very high steps of an old temple dropping his drink down the very long way he climbed comes to mind in retrospect. Ha.. Oh man, the pain when the Beast poked Magneto with the four shots of The Cure. No...! And then I hated all of it. Cyclops died. My friend commented that the poor chap died so soon in the movie. Professor X died. Mystique lost her super cool shape shifting powers. Jean's second death was beautiful, so no regret there. It seemed as if all the great and pivotal ones had died and left the next generation in charge. Boo. What is X-Men without Professor Xavier and Magneto? I like the other characters but I like Ian McKellen more. Ha..

Ah, but the ending was sweet. That tiny little waver of the metal chesspiece at Sir Ian McKellen's index finger sent a shot of excitement and glee. What joy! I thought the last scene of Magneto in an aged home's garden sitting in front of a chess board with ivory and metal pieces was some sad poignant last look at this once great man. The sweet sweet promise of a grand comeback! Grand because you know where Magneto is concern, you can be sure he'll come back with a great big bang! That little maneuver of his, moving the entire damn bridge to join to the island is way too cool. Ha.. So in the end, I love this movie too. I love all the cheap jokes and I think the mutants are cool.

But, this is not the end. I just remembered something about the credits. Was waiting patiently through the credits for what little surprise was in store, when an open ended quote caught my eye. Beside the credits of Claw-maker was Jimmy Gawsley(or something)/Jimmy "Claws". And after that, beside Painting was Xxx "Gore" Xxx. They must have had a lot of fun making this movie. I hope my future jobs would involve having a lot of fun working in teams too.

"They wish to cure us. But I say, we are the cure."

"In chess, the pawns go first."

"Who's hiding? Dickhead."

"The whole world's going to hell, you gonna just sit there?"

Dr. Hank McCoy: My boy, I've been fighting for mutant rights since before you had claws.
Logan: Did he just call me boy?

The Interrogator: Raven?
Raven Darkholme: I don't answer to my slave name.
The Interrogator: Raven Darkholme? That's your real name. Or has he convinced you that you don't have any family?
Raven Darkholme: My family tried to kill me, you pathetic meatsack.

If you are a Dog: A very loyal and sweet person.Your loyalty can never be
doubted. You are quite honest and sincere when it comes to your attitude
towards working. You are a very simple person, indeed. Absolutely hassle
free, humble and down-to-earth!! That explains the reason why your friends
cling on to you! You have a good taste for clothes. If your wardrobe is
not updated with what is trendy, you sure are depressed. Popular and
easy-going. You have a little group of dignified friends, all of them being
quality-personified.

If you are a Mouse: Always up to some sort of a mischief! The mischievous
gleam in your eyes is what makes you so cute and attractive to everyone.
You are an extremely fun-to-be-with kind of person. No wonder, people seek
for your company and look forward to include you for all get-togethers.
However, you are sensitive, which is a drawback. People need to select
their words while talking to you. If someone tries to fiddle around and
play with words while dealing with you, it is enough to invite your wrath.
God bless the person then!

If you are a Lion: Quite contradictory to your name, you are a peace
loving person. You best try to avoid a situation wherein you are required
to fight. An outdoor person, you dislike sitting at one place for a long
duration. You are a born leader, and have it in you how to tactfully
derive work from people. You love being loved, and when you receive your
share of limelight from someone, you are all theirs!!!! Well, well...
hence some people could even take an advantage, flatter you to the maximum
and get their work done. So be careful.....

If you are a Cat: An extremely lovable, adorable person, sometimes
shy, with a passion for quick wit. At times, you prefer quietness. You love
exploring various things and going into depth of each thing. Under normal
circumstances you're cool, when given a reason to, you are like a volcano
waiting to erupt. You're a fashion bird. People look forward to you as an
icon associated with fashion. Basically, you mingle along freely but don't
like talking much to strangers. People feel very easy in your company. You
observe care in choosing your friends.

If you are a Turtle: You are near to perfect and nice at heart. The
examples of your kindness are always circulated in groups of people. You,
too, love peace. You wouldn't like to retaliate even to a person who is in
the wrong. You are loved due to this. You do not wish to talk behind one's
back. People love the way you always treat them. You can give, give and
give love, and the best part is that you do not expect it back in
return. You are generous enough.Seeing things in a practical light is what
remains the best trait of you guys.

If you are a Dove: You symbolize a very happy-go-lucky approach in
life.Whatever the surroundings may be, grim or cheerful, you remain
unaffected. In fact, you spread cheer wherever you go. You are the leader
of your group of friends and good at consoling people in their times of
need. You dislike hypocrisy and tend to shirk away from hypocrites. They
can never be in your good books, no matter what. You are very methodical
and organized in your work. No amount of mess, hence, can ever encompass
you. Beware, it is easy for you to fall in love....

If you are a Panther: You are mysterious. You are someone who can handle
pressure with ease, and can handle any atmosphere without going
berserk. You can be mean at times, and love to gossip with your selected
group.Very prim and proper. You like all situations and things to be in
the way you desire, which, sometimes is not possible. As a result, you may
lose out in some relationships. But otherwise, you love to help people out
from difficult and tight spots when they really need you.

If you are a Monkey: Very impatient and hyper!!! You want things to be
done as quick as possible. At heart, you are quite simple and love if you
are the center of attraction. That way, you people are unique. You would
like to keep yourself safe from all the angles. Shall your name be dragged
or featured in any sort of a controversy, you then go all panicky.
Therefore, you take your precautions from the very beginning. When you
foresee anything wrong, your sixth sense is what saves you from falling in
traps. Quite a money minded bunch you people are!!

I saw a worm today

There was this worm crawling on the bus, and it was very cute. Ha.. It had a very pretty colour-lime green. It reminded me of Slimey, Oscar's pet worm in Sesame Street. The worm really crawled like the puppet and I could imagine two sticks at the two ends that manipulates the puppet. It was so cute I felt like bringing it home. Ha..

Found this really cute pict of slimy...

Well, this is spooky...

Meant to be

Hip Hip Hippies! Wow they came in last twice and escaped elimination Both times and won in the end. They are the Amazing in The Amazing Race. Its so cute to hear Tyler speaking Japanese in Japan. Fluent Japanese. Aparently cos he had(or has) a Japanese girlfriend so he's familiar with the country too. Actually the frat boys were really good too but their attitudes suck like nobody's business. Sheesh, did they need to look so pissed off at the last pit stop? As if the million dollars is rightfully theirs. If they showed more sportsmanship I would think they deserved to win too. Besides, they won many travel packages from being first in several legs of the race so there really is no reason to be so sore. Sore Losers... Previously in one episode they were really pissed that they arrived second, I think maybe it was after their winning streaks or just cos they were annoyed to be behind the Hippies, and Phil said something like, Gee couldn't you guys be a little happier? It wasn't even the last pit stop and they were annoyed to be second? Ego overload? I love it when the host voices the viewers' disapprovals. Ha..

Actually I knew the Hippies won before watching the episode and I was wondering how they won cos the frat boys were leading a bit and the only challenge seemed to be navigating on the roads which both teams were equally well in. Wow BJ did so well in the very last task. Yay...

I think its nice that almost everybody won something in this race. The good teams anyway. Ray and Yolanda won the car and the golden gnome thing, even Fran and Barry won a travel package from being first in one leg. Thay are another amazing couple.

Nice guys don't finish last.

Oh I remember something funny. In Japan, the frat boys and the Hippies left somewhere around the same time to Hotel Nikko and they went on different roads, each thinking that they were on the right way. Turns out the frat boys were on the right road but the Hippies were on the faster one. So they arrive first, around midnight (?) and asked the counter if they could use their internet access which on upstairs. Before leaving the counter, Tyler told the guys at the counter to pretend they didn't understand english. So a while later, the frat boys came, didn't see the Hippies, thought they went the wrong way and went to the counter to ask about internet access. The guy at the counter somehow couldn't bear to not reply their enquires and told them they didn't have internet access. Haha. So then they were really puzzled as to why such a big hotel didn't have internet access but nevertheless used the telephone to make enquiries to the airlines. After the Hippies were done with the internet, they see the frat boys in the lobby from upstairs and decide to walk down from the back (or somewhere) and pretend that they just arrived. Eric or Jeremy then tells them that the hotel doesn't have internet access, expressing his surprise, hiding the fact that they already made enquires via the phone, and the Hippies just returned the expressions of surprise and they just sat there waiting for the shuttle bus to take them to the airport. The camera then shows the guys at the counter laughing to themselves. Haha... A pity this didn't give them any advantage whatsoever though, cos all 3 teams turned out taking the same flight. Oh well... It was funny though. Ha..

Was it just me or did BJ look a little scared of Eric and Jeremy at the last pit stop cos they looked so pissed? Bullies.

Impulse

My first hand at flower arrangement. Unfortunately looks best only in plan view. Ha..
How fun...

Damn Danielle

For picking Aras over Terry in Survivor-Exile Island... I knew she couldn't be trusted. Probably why T didn't give her the hidden immunity idol, in case it was a ploy to vote him out. What does she mean she doesn't know what to do cos she didn't expect to be in that position? She totally expected to ride along with whoever won the last challenge? I thot the deal was that whoever won wld take the other to the final 2. Not if T wins he'll bring D. duh... I really do not like to call ppl stupid, but she can't even keep her lies straight. It's like she's just using words that she doesn't know the meanings to.

Judging by her rationale to bring the one she stands the most chance of winning against, I was kinda hoping that she'll be stupid enough to bring T. Ha.. Even tho it's quite obvious that she's the least deserving of all so almost anyone could win against her. Maybe she could have won a few more votes and integrity had she taken T on the basis that he's the most deserving and that they did have a pact.

I was so upset and annoyed that T was out (tho 14 is one of my fav numbers...) until I remembered he won the car. Ahh!! The curse of the car. Damn. Towards the end of the Reunion Jeff pointed out that T kept the car curse alive. Ha..

Well, I suppose at least he got the car. And in the end, all is forgiven, and everybody is happy. At least, looked like on tv. Except Shane. So funny that in the last tribal council he was so annoyed with Courtney using his shoulder for support everytime she left or went back to her seat. He siam so far away. He is one funny wack...

One-year-old writer

I realised that if I carried on writing in that fashion, my chances of being nominated for the Nobel Prize for Literature, let alone winning it, would be slim. So I stopped and regrouped. And had a bit of a think.

I contemplatively sucked on a piece of zwieback, using the physical activity and the sugar rush to aid my concentration. As that brittle biscuit dissolved satisfyingly in my mouth, the realisation dawned that insight lies not in the simple recounting of experiences but in the collision of experiences with opinion. That what I should write was not really a continuous story, more a series of dispatches from the front line. And that if I followed this approach, and trusted in the intelligence of the reader, then you, the reader, would be able to discern the big picture without me having to spell it out for you.

I must admit, it was an approach that appealed to me.

After all, why should I do all the work?
