Towards the end of 2008

I like the new Ch8 drama about AIDS showing now. Finally a local show that has an important message and not just some stupid family screaming matches. Eh, I've never really liked Zoe and I don't really understand why she's so favoured.. Her character is so flat and boring. I doubt it's because of the script. I like most of the rest of the cast except the daughter and Elvin's character seems a little retarded. Ha.. But everybody in the show is commendable for trying to send an important message. *Clapclapclap* I saw part of the trailer where these aunties were scolding Chen Hanwei's AIDS-infected character for being inconsiderate by going to the public pool. Hello? He's not being inconsiderate. You're being ignorant.

2008 has been a horrible, horrible year with all sorts of losses and disasters everywhere. I can't wait for it to be over. I think Obama being elected seems to reinforce my belief that 2009 will be better. Hopefully a gazillion times better. Actually I'm not interested in politics but almost all of the people whose blogs I read support Obama. These are the people I've always shared the same views and sentiments and McCain supporters are the people that I have never agreed with so it's obvious who I'll support.

Finally, I wanted to talk to you about what happened last night, how your father and I and millions of other people across the country helped elect the first African American president. Leta, you are so lucky to have been born in an era where this is possible, in a time where generations have come together to stop the sick cycle of bigotry that has been passed down from fathers to sons, mothers to daughters, where we have finally stood up and said, enough, we are more civilized than all of that. I have never been more proud to be an American than I am today, and when you are old enough to understand the significance of this election, when years from now you ask me where I was when I found out that Barack Obama had won, I'll tell you that while there were millions of people dancing in the streets and gathered at parties, thousands more across the world chanting in impromptu parades, I was sitting on the couch next to your father, our fingers intertwined, the two of us alone with the dogs asleep at our feet. The television was an eruption of noise and chaos, but we sat there quietly absorbing the moment, worried that if we blinked we'd wake up out of a dream.
There have been moments today when I haven't believed it, have worried that I imagined everything. Having grown up in the South I didn't ever think this could happen, not when I and so many of my peers had so much indoctrination to overcome, years of being intentionally and sometimes unintentionally taught by seemingly well-meaning superiors that the color of your skin makes you different. And yet, while this election is a firm rejection of that kind of thinking, it's also about how this man brought so many people together and inspired us by his example to focus not on bickering or hurt feelings or the vast divide of our differences, but on rolling up our sleeves and looking for a way to bridge that chasm. And Leta, I finally feel like we may have the momentum to change and fix so much of what has gone wrong — from economics to the environment, to health care and humanitarian disasters — that instead of leaving your generation with a burden almost impossible to climb, there is hope that we may in fact leave you with a world that is better than the one you were born into. I know I am not alone when I say that my vote in this election was as much for his vision as it was for you and your future.

Dooce's monthly newsletter to her daughter from dooce.com

Is Obama or the party perfect? No. No candidate is ever perfect. There is no such thing. But I can look past the imperfections much more easily this cycle. I like that Obama taught constitutional law. Especially given the dangerous ground the Bush/Cheney administration has trod.

I’m not going to lie. My main reason for voting Obama/Biden is that I feel like they’ve got what it takes to put aside the name calling and childish part of politics and really move this country forward. My inner ideologist loves the fact that Obama speaks in a calm, educated way and dares to use words like “hope”. We could use some hope about now.

Dooce's husband on blurbomat

I like to think that his being elected symbolises hope too. Hope for a different world. I heard in the news that there were more young voters this year, especially for Obama. In JC our GP teacher showed us a video of some narrow minded white people. This young woman, with a baby and her husband, was saying that white people were the superior species and she thinks her purpose in life was to BREED and populate earth with more pure white people. I think God was mentioned. It is so disgusting that young people are so ignorant and delusional. This kind of people should not be breeding. Dooce once mentioned in her blog that because she lives in a state that is extremely conservative because her (very conservative) family lives there, she hopes her daughter doesn't grow up thinking that only white people existed in this world. Well, with a black president in the very near future, that is going to be quite difficult right? =) The world is changing everyday. How can people be so narrow-minded and stuck in the past? What's so great about being normal and exactly the same as everybody else anyway? BORING.

Cheers

Oh yay Obama won. I actually kinda can't believe he actually won even though I read about how much support he has. I wonder how the über-conservative people are reacting..

After a bilious campaign, McCain was gracious in defeat, and noted that his election was a moment to cherish for African Americans.

"The American people have spoken, and they have spoken clearly. A little while ago, I had the honor of calling Senator Barack Obama to congratulate him on being elected the next president of the country that we both love," he said.

"Though we fell short, the failure is mine, not yours," he told a crowd of supporters in Phoenix in his home state of Arizona.

One time I saw on the news that one of his supporters, a white old lady, was saying to him how Obama is black and some racist prejudice stuff and McCain looked a little annoyed and took the microphone from her and said Obama was a worthy opponent and that the stuff she said was untrue. Good for him.

I'm very happy also because jn found the soundtrack of Les Choristes and helped me buy. =) Last night I dreamt that it was super expensive though. Like $75. I don't think she would buy if it was that expensive since I had sent her an amazon link that was only USD18/++. Can't wait for her to come back. Ha..

Postsecret

This week's postsecret has one that says, "I always pick up after my dogs...EXCEPT if there's an OBAMA sign in the yard!" Wow, this is the kind of people voting for McCain. Isn't that nice? This is the kind of people who give God a bad name, who are using God's name in vain. The kind of people who use God as an excuse to discriminate and justify their own twisted minds. You want a channel to vent your hate and frustration? Hate smokers. They're the ones killing people around them with second hand smoke. Even drug addicts only harm themselves. Just because smoking doesn't kill immediately doesn't mean it's not harmful and disgusting. What do homosexuals do to you? What people do with themselves, to themselves, are their own business. You want to be high and mighty, go help the poor and handicapped.

Satan

There's this application in Facebook called Minekey where people put thoughts and others agree or disagree. The other day the "thought of the day" was
Halloween is Satan's Birthday.
...conveniently heralding the coming of the Antichrist on Nov 4th....by Sunshine, 3 days ago

4067 voted, 24% agreed, 10 followers

I of course disagree. This guy commented that he disagreed and that he was "sorry that such a stupid question could ever be someone's thought of the day." Ha.. I agree with that.

Halloween

Eh, not really in a blogging mood but haven't posted anything for a long time. Blogged a little in the other blog *points to the top*.

I only found out on fri evening via the morning jam blog that fri was the last day for Hossan. Damn it. The post was on wed and I was listening on wed. How did I miss that? Shit. I missed Maggie's last day the last time too. Urgh. I'm not really surprised he left though. Most of the talking is done by Joe now, which I don't mind, but since I don't really hear much of Hossan anyway.. I still prefer Hossan and Maggie together. I was trying so hard to remember who was Hossan's partner on air after Maggie left. =P I remember who it was and erm, she was boring. Oh well, at least Hossan read part of my message on radio once. Hohoho..

I saw a cute halloween pumpkin pic but cannot save so can only put link..

This other one was an entry to a pumpkin carving contest. I hope one day I can get to carve pumpkins too. =)

I have this pumpkin shirt actually. They're all sold out now. Mine is a little big because small size was sold out so I got M. But it's only a little bigger so I still like it. I like the reddish orange colour. =) It's a "seasonal" shirt so can't wear it much. Ha..

60th Emmy

I realised I hadn't blogged about the Emmy's. The highlight for me is definitely Josh Groban's medley of TV themes. I thought the Law & Order solemn gong was damn funny. Ha.. I definitely didn't know he was this talented and funny.

Oh and I was very happy that Lee Pace from Pushing Daisies was nominated for best actor. =) I was clapping away. Ha.. But I don't mind Alec Baldwin from 30 Rock winning the award.

When I saw Kristin Chenoweth from the show I was reminded that I wanted to check her height. When I rewatched the series my first reaction of her entrance was that she looked super short beside Lee Pace (who is very cute =)). Anyway, she is the same height as me. So now I know how short I'll look beside Hollywood people. Ha.. Anyway she looks much better in short hair, in my opinion. Oh, can you believe she's 40 this year? Do short people look younger? Anyway, that makes her the same age as Billy Boyd. Just one month and 4 days apart.

Surreal

I was having trouble falling asleep last night because of this stupid cold that's been bugging me all week. Damn irritating. Anyway I was still awake at 6am so decided to listen to Morning Jam at power 98. I must be a little delirious from the lack of sleep because I smsed in when they were talking about graduation songs. It was SO surreal hearing Joe read out part of my message. Ha.. But I think it was read out only because the three of them wanted to say 小虎队 xiao hu dui in unison on english radio. Ha.. When I was in p1, or actually maybe p2, I had a classmate who was crying so tragicly because the p6s were leaving. Eh, didn't know why she was so upset.. She was the only one upset. Maybe few others also cried because she was crying. A p6 senior was trying to console her saying they would visit etc. I remember I was drawing on the blackboard. Anyway they were using this 小虎队 song for their graduation but I can't remember the name.. I remember it's a very sad song but I can only remember the dragonfly song now. I'll put it in the music tab when I find it. =) So funny hearing them get excited about saying 小虎队 on radio. Ha..

The Saturday Night Live Tina Fey as Sarah Palin skit, if you haven't seen it yet

This is so funny. I'm embarassingly ignorant of current affairs but I still got the jokes. This is really funny. My god if they win..I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry. I would definitely be disgusted.

Clip can be found here.

"Hilary": I believe global warming is caused by man.
"Palin": And I believe it's just God hugging us closer.

I can't believe there are people who don't believe in global warming! It's one thing to not care but to think it's some conspiracy or godknowswhatthey think. It's beyond what my pretty little head can comprehend. I didn't even think that there are people who don't believe in global warming until I read in dooce about her very mormon mum not believing in it. I'm thinking of something about mormon that's rude. I don't want to risk getting in touble for writing it here. But I think americans like to make fun of mormons anyway. In That '70s Show Red sometimes says in exasperation that he feels like a mormon because the kids are always in his house. (Mormons have many children.) Ok never mind.

Here are some SNL clips with Michael Phelps. =)

This is a spoof on the T-Mobile ads about who are your favourite 5. Almost didn't recognise Michael Phelps.

http://www.leschoristes-lefilm.com

I saw the web address in the credits of the film and just checked it out. After the success of Les Choristes they had another film by the original cast, or at least 3 of them that I see, in a new film coming out next week. The website is all in french so I don't understand.. Je ne comprend pas. But the pictures are nice and sharp and big(slideshow). The music is nice too but I hear only Paris...Paris...Paris... Not just because I don't understand but she repeats it a lot.

Les Choristes

This was the french film on Arts Central on Sunday. It is damn nice. The singing is so beautiful. And the boy is cute too. Ha.. The video is not of the best song scene in my opinion but it's the only one I could find on youtube. It's La Nuit, which I think means The Night. I think.

The boy is holding the score because he can't sing to save his life. Note 1:03. Damn funny. When the teacher was delegating parts, he heard him sing and told him to hold the score: "I name you 'music stand'." And he tapped the baton on his head. So funny.

I'm putting other clips of the film I found in my BRAND NEW TAB. =)

Postsecret

Subject: RE: prep for suicide

I want to clean my mess of a room before I commit suicide. But I'm a huge procrastinator. And so the mess just keeps piling up.

I laughed when I saw that because it sounds exactly like me. I was reading the papers about the 2 boys who fell/jumped couple weeks ago. Last Monday I was at Guang Ming Shan for my grandma's 49th day and waiting for some relatives to arrive when a van drove in for cremation purposes. It wasn't the first I've seen since I've been there several times but I was a little shocked to see the photograph was of a teen boy. I didn't realise it was one of the two boys I heard in the news until I read the papers today. Eh, my aunts and uncles were discussing about it after and they didn't really know what happened too and the conclusion was to read the papers. My cousin said they very kaypoh. =P It was quite sad because the parents and elders of the Chinese boy couldn't be there because of Chinese traditions and only a few siblings and maybe cousins could be mourning. The undertaker had a person to guide them. But there were many classmates and schoolmates there at the cremation. I only saw one girl crying and her friend was comforting her. I was a little surprised they didn't look very upset.. But from the picture in the papers maybe the commotion happened mainly outside but I was inside so didn't see.

I wonder if the other Thai boy has people taking care of his affairs because he lives only with his grandmother here. I remember when I was in Pri 6 a schoolmate committed suicide too and her parents asked reporters not to report it too conspicuously because they didn't want to upset her grandmother and didn't want to tell her. I think they intended to tell her she went overseas to study. So sad.

Oh and I read about this stupid Hongkong tycoon who was trying to claim a piece of land where an 86-year-old elderly lady raised her family with her husband and still currently working on the farm. A frigging 14-year litigation. Excuse me, you're a frigging billionaire and you bugged a poor old lady and her small family for a piece of land that is their life, and which is like a stick of gum to you. What the hell is wrong with you? At least the old lady won. I don't understand why it took so long though. Dumb.

I LOVE this song ---------------SO--------------- much!

Official music video (Embedding disabled)

This is "It's the way you make me feel" by Steps. And it makes me feel happy! I've been trying to remember this song for AGES. I only remembered it came out the same time as Bardot when we were in Sec 4 and I vaguely remembered "Steps" - not knowing if it was the band name or part of the song title. I finally googled "steps" and after snooping around I finally found it! Hoorah! The reason this song makes me happy is because it reminds me of my happy Sec 4 times, hanging out with friends, at Christina's place or wherever. I think mainly Christina's place. Heh. And we would watch this music video, amongst others and including Bardot's. After 'O' levels was like the happiest time of my life! No homework, no need to find job, just play, play, play! I'm sure I was bored at some point and unhappy but I don't remember that. Sigh. I miss school... I can't believe I even miss P.E. But at least we could play several different games. From pri to uni I have tried soccer, baseball, tennis, volleyball, badminton, swimming (which I didn't like), floorball, hockey (I think), fencing, and other non-descript games. I think one of the best things about school is being able to try many different things. I definitely don't regret not having any other ECA that is not band because I really like being in the band. But I do wish I could have played some sports more. I'm quite sad I couldn't try archery and shooting in school.. =( I wanted to try archery in uni but the time always clashed with aki. =( I think aki deprived me of a uni life. Damn. But I got a unique experience in aki ba. At least I got to try fencing in uni. It was fun. =) But the suit was damn hot. Maybe it's because we were taking turns to wear the same suits. I wouldn't mind taking it up again. =) Kinda miss olympics. =P

Oh I found this.

Forgot Michael Jackson has a song called "The way you make me feel". I like this song too. No idea when and where this performance was at but must be a long time ago because Britney still looks good. Ahem.

Monday, August 18, 2008

I think I just saw a guy in the Olympics with green hair. I feel like colouring my hair green too. Hmm.. I like Joker's green hair..

Oh just saw Michael Phelps on TV. Yes he is very cute. Just went chalet with family and my cousin's boyfriend is so obsessed with him. Funny. And that cousin really inherited the family's love-to-scold-people genes. Every frigging single time I see my grandma's children they're either scolding people or badmouthing people. I feel like gagging their mouths or just screaming at them. One day I'm going to explode. There will be casualties. At one point at the chalet where there were no grandma's children around, somebody pointed out that they were always scolding people and everyone immediately agreed that every single one of them had the same traits! Eh I kinda assumed it must be my grandpa's genes because he passed away 12 years before I was born (Years of the Rat - actually I realised the date was quite close to my Chi birthdate) so I didn't know him and erm it was easier to blame him. =P Sorry.. And because I've never seen my grandma scold people loh. But my aunt said grandpa was not like them leh. But then, I think she said she's never seen him before. Maybe she heard from my uncle. My mother said grandpa was very strict with them but I don't believe a word coming out of her mouth. Oh, actually my theory is that my grandpa had too many children (he had a first wife whose family is still in China) so his good genes were stretched too thin. And he was 20 years older than my grandma so maybe the good genes not as strong liao. Horrible things survive in poor conditions right? Case in point - cockroaches. I'm not being mean here k. All my cousins and aunts-in-law can't stand them. Ooh Phelps on TV again.

I wonder...

...if Tao Li is sick of people mispronouncing her name. I'm so happy Singapore won a medal. But I'm still feeling sluggish..

And I'm wondering if China made Jingjing the Fuwa the cutest because of Guo Jingjing. =P

Update

In case some of you still don't know, my grandma passed away a few days before the last post. And I feel like punching the lights out of some people. I so want to move out and away from all this shit.

My Daily Tarot Card on fb

The Tower

The Tower represents sudden and unexpected change. It signifies the destruction of something that was not built on a solid foundation. With this change comes a time of disorder and chaos, but from this comes great improvement and newfound strength. This is an opportunity for you to start over and right your wrongs.

I think I just righted a wrong.

Kitties

Today 2 ladies in the office building told me separately that some moron complained about the cats and they're going to send them away. The first lady told me at noon somebody sent an email telling them not to feed the cats. The second lady told me in the evening that she called the moronic man about it and the man was quite rude. And that she was told the SPCA will be putting them down. What the hell? The second lady is really nice and she feeds the cats everyday. She told the moron, who said that because we had been feeding the cats, they had been pooing around. I have never in my life seen cat poo around. Is that moron hallucinating? Because he said there's another yellow cat around and he's the only one who's seen it. That freak is disturbed. The nice lady said the cats have been around for a long time and they've never bothered anyone. She even told the stupid man she's willing to go around to pick up cat poo. So nice. She might be bringing the cats home. I hope she does.. In case she decides to leave that dumb place who lets one single moronic freak take away two innocent cat lives. The lady works on the ground floor where the cats are so I think she'll protect them. I hope. I didn't see the bigger, blacker cat at all today. I'm so pissed off with that bastard. I hope he sees me feeding the cats and confront me so I can personally verbally abuse his sorry ass.

Reality's Dark Dream

by Samuel Taylor Coleridge

I know 'tis but a dream, yet felt more anguish
Than if 'twere truth. It has been often so:
Must I die under it? Is no one near?
Will no one hear these stifled groans and wake me?

"Do You Think I Know What I'm Doing?"

by Rumi
Translated by Coleman Barks

Do you think I know what I'm doing?
That for one breath or half-breath I belong to myself?
As much as a pen knows what it's writing,
or the ball can guess where it's going next.

Richard Cory

by Edwin Arlington Robinson

Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich, - yes, richer than a king, -
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine, we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

The Stranger

by Charles Baudelaire
Translated by Louise Varѐse

Tell me, enigmatical man, whom do you love best, your father, your mother, your sister, or your brother?
I have neither father, nor mother, nor sister, nor brother.
Your friends?
Now you use a word whose meaning I have never known.
Your country?
I do not know in what latitude it lies.
Beauty?
I could indeed love her, Goddess and Immortal.
Gold?
I hate it as you hate God.
Then, what do you love, extraordinary stranger?
I love the clouds ... the clouds that pass ... up there ... up there ... the wonderful clouds!

Poetry

I borrowed a poetry book for my student and I read a little of it. It's called I Just HOPE It's Lethal: Poems of Sadness, Madness, & Joy. Eh ok it might be a little depressing but my student is a little unfeeling so I need to knock some emotions into her. =P Anyway, will be putting some poems here that I...understand.

A new month

The chatty cleaning auntie who comes in the office to take away rubbish and who fed the cats is not working there/here anymore because they changed cleaning companies and the new company hired their own people. Lucky there's another lady who feeds the cats. But I wonder if they're hungrier than usual. I accidentally fed them quite a lot just now. Oops. And I had to stand there to stop the fatter cat from eating the other cat's share. So greedy..

The boss wants me to set up my own company so he can engage my "company" to do drawings for his presentations. And because he wants me to hire prison people because he can't contact them himself. (Something to do with the top people.) An ex-colleague is working with the prison in the yellow ribbon project so she told him she has people who can draw. So i'm supposed to become a boss. What joy. I feel like it's forced down my throat though. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew. I hate people who want to do too much and mess up everything. When you bite off more than you can chew, you choke. What one wants to do with themselves is their problem but when it affects others it's just irritating.

Epiphany

Some people are so dense it's like talking to a wall. But then again, why did I even bother talking to a wall? I should accept the wall for the wall that it is and not bother. My bad.

The Aftermath

I played badminton yesterday and I'm aching all over today. Ow. Actually just mainly my right arm. Tried to use my left hand more today. Damn, I'm so out of shape. But when I first started playing squash last year I was in A LOT more pain. I could hardly walk without feeling pain. That was bad man.. But it felt good yesterday to be playing active game. Although I was damn paiseh because I was playing a damn lousy game. Think I cock eye. =S Actually, even when I was on court, I was erm watching my partner running around. Ha.. Somemore it was a friend's friend. Paiseh.. =P

I want to learn new sport.. Maybe archery or fencing. But don't feel like learning alone. Should save money and really erm finish my tesol assignments. Oops. I think I'll have more time in a couple weeks anyway. Off to rest my arm..

Talk is cheap

Oh I have a quote from LOTR: The Two Towers that I watched on TV on Sat. Eowyn said to that disgusting guy. "Your words are poison." Seeing Gandalf and Pippin makes me happy. =) This is my favourite instalment of the LOTR trilogy because of Treebeard and the ents - the talking trees. I loved the scene of the ents kicking orc-asses. And I liked that deforestation was an issue raised. But it's sad that the problem was noted so long ago and yet so little, or at least still not enough, was done. The trees should be kicking man's asses as well.

But I digress. I wanted to blog this long time ago but didn't have internet access. Because I realise that talk is cheap and words are worthless. Why is it that when you say you're going to be 20 mins late, you only turn up 1 hour later? Giving me a shorter time does not make the waitig shorter. If you tell me 1 hour, or even 50 mins, I can make better use of my time. And will be less pissed. Much less. And why is it that when you say you're going to do something "tomorrow", it is still not done weeks later? Excuse me, did I put a gun to your head and demand that you do it by "tomorrow"? You gave the deadline yourself and you can't even keep it. Duh? You couldn't just say "within these 2 weeks" and take your time? Do you even think before you speak? Are you sure you did? Some people are just damn sloppy. If people don't see the need to keep their words I don't see why I should. But I'm a believer of "an eye for an eye" so I spare innocents. And I have integrity.

Joe Augustin was recently screwed over the last radio station he was in and is now on Morning Jam with Hossan and Shareen Wong. The story was that his partner was quitting because she couldn't juggle everything on her plate. They were on a one week break and were planning to return for a last week to explain to their listeners. But during that week of break the people on top decided to revamp the whole show and sacked him and there was no last week for them to even talk to their listeners one last time. Is going back on one's word the way of life? I'd rather be an outsider, thank you.

Anyway, I think this morning team is better than Hossan with Cheryl Miles, the girl who took over Maggie in Power 98's morning jam. Maggie went over to Gold.. =( Maybe she felt she was too auntie for the station but I like her auntie-ness with Hossan. So much funnier than Cheryl.. Cheryl makes Hossan boring. The new trio is funny too but maybe too many people so it feels like there's less talk. On their first day they were thinking of new names for the new morning team. A listener contributed "Cher, Joe and the 'Ho". So funny. I like. Ha.. I think they only used it that morning though. Yay I have reason to wake up earlier now. =)

Saturday, June 28, 2008

Yay I finally got internet access in my new laptop. The stupid helpdesk gave me the wrong password. Made me so pissed off when I couldn't get internet for so long. I called the technical helpdesk just now and I was so not awake that I spelled my name when she asked for my IC number. Oops. I want to change my blogskin. Or maybe I'll move to wordpress because I found some wordpress templates that I like. But I have no idea how to edit in wordpress so most probably will not be switching.

You know what I like best about this laptop, it has a fingerprint swipe log on system. So funky. Ha.. But when I was trying to register my fingerprints it kept telling me to swipe again because it couldn't detect. I swiped my fingers several dozen times and it still can't detect. Are my fingers too small or something? But I have fat fingers. In the end I only registered two fingers. But logging on is quite fun now. Ha.. Am transfering files from the desktop hard disk now before I can do anything much here. What I don't like here is that the surface heats up damn quickly so I can't type very comfortably. And this screen is so much smaller than I'm used to. What I hate most is the ultra sensitivity of the touchpad. I keep triggering it while typing. Oh I just discovered how to switch it off. Cool. Ha..

Anyway, I watched Deception couple days ago because Hugh Jackman was in it. Unfortunately it was quite boring.. I'm disappointed because I like Hugh Jackman. And Ewan McGregor is a great actor too. The story was just too predictable and not exciting enough. The actors themselves were great. Halfway through the movie I remembered Maggie Q was in the cast and was wondering when she'll come in and she came in in the next scene. And then she disappeared. Eh? Actually there was something quite interesting. They had this sex club where members had access to a list of the opposite gender and the list is just numbers. So you call any number and arrange to meet the person. So convenient. Ha.. But they didn't really fully expand on this idea to make the plot more sinister. Pity. Oh the story is that Ewan is this pathetic, lonely accountant at the beginning before he met Hugh who accidentally purposely introduced him to this sex club. Ewan had two zits on his forehead and another on his jaw. I wonder if he purposely grew them or he just happened to have them or the makeup artists put them there. At the beginning of the movie I was a little shocked/surprised that the guys looked er..kinda old. Everybody got older I guess. But there were so many lines on their faces.. But Hugh Jackman still looked very suave. Ha.. I was more startled that Ewan McGregor looked so much older than his Moulin Rouge days. I think he looked bad because of his character too lah. But, after getting the hang of the club, his complexion was significantly better. So...what is the moral of the story? Ha..

Oh, when I bought the movie tickets the girl asked to see my ID. I thought it was because I was using a voucher. She laughed and said I look so young. I didn't get it until I saw that the movie was M18. I don't look 18? Actually I'm usually quite sad when people guess my age to be 20 or more. Makes me feel old and sad that I don't look super young anymore. Haha.. Damn boliao. But the best thing about being above 21 is that I don't need to even see what rating a movie is. Although it helps inform what the movie is about.

Ok shall go and eat now..

The End

I only realised in the middle of Friday that it was Friday the thirteenth. It was the worst Friday the thirteenth ever. Was damn pissed off.

Yesterday was the last visit of the contact lenses research study. Erm, a bit sad. Kind of got used to going there every week and sadly, it's one of the only times in the week that I talk to somebody, not online and sms. Erm, because I don't like talking to anybody in the office. =P Hope I find another job soon. *cross my fingers* The optometrist gave me a cheque instead of making me spend at his shop. I was going to buy contacts at his place. So now I have to buy somewhere else.. Today is the first time in more than a month that I'm not wearing contacts. I still don't like wearing spectacles all that much.. But since I overspent on these spectacles I must wear it a lot more.

Hmm, I think it's going to take a long time to back up all my files.. I bought a desktop external harddisk since I don't need to bring it around anyway. 500gb for $149. Shall be transitting to my new HP laptop for the next few days. One of the freebies was this thumbdrive shaped like Po from Kungfu Panda. So cute. Ha.. But it's only 1gb. Better than nothing.

Okie, off to watch Pushing Daisies. The guy is quite cute. =) And the story is quite interesting too. The guy brings a person back to life with one touch and with the second touch the person drops dead again. If he doesn't touch the person again within one minute another person drops dead. The show is pleasing to the eye. =)

Yay getting new laptop tomorrow.. And I watched Kungfu Panda yesterday. Awesome. So funny. Some parts quite duh lah but overall was good. A little short though. The whole training scene was in the trailer. Was a little bored cos I had seen it so I just marvelled at the animation at those scenes. =P I guess it wasn't very long because maybe they wanted to finish the film before Beijing Olympics? Eh, during the fighting scene with the buildings crumbling and ground shaking, I thought of the earthquakes.. Ahem. Anyway, I think I saw some Kungfu Panda stuff related to HP Pavilion at the PC Show. Just nice, I wanted to get HP Pavilion too.

Kept forgetting to post pictures that I took in the office..

Blessing in disguise

Few weeks ago an optometrist asked me to participate in a "research study", which basically means be guinea pig and try their new contact lenses for a month. Kf told me about their other research study few years ago so he asked if I wanted to do it again. I get vouchers to spend in his shop in return. Just nice that I need to be buying contact lenses soon. =P Anyway last Saturday I was there and I had to take out my lenses and one of them came out with a perfect round hole in the middle of the lens. I couldn't find that missing piece so I told him and he checked my eye to see if the missing piece was inside. Actually few years ago I tried this other brand of lenses and the dumb lenses kept tearing. I was quite pissed off. One time I couldn't find a missing piece and I'd been wondering if it was still in my eye but optometrists when checking my eyesight would not notice it. So now I'm sure it's not in my eye since he specifically checked it for me. Yay. Ha.. The optometrist said there'll be another study on overnight lenses. Wonder if he'll ask me again. Can save some money on contacts then but don't think I should do this to my eyes too often I guess. I wonder if overnight lenses would be comfortable..

I finally finished reading The Art of Murder by José Carlos Somoza last week. Had been bringing it around for months and not reading it. Oops. =P Was a bit disappointed with the ending. For most of the book, it is totally twisted and weird. It's set in this make-believe art world of "hyperdramatism" in the present time, where artists paint human beings and they pose as art works so the models are the canvases, literally. They are treated like canvas. You can paint their eye pupils, eat pills so they don't perspire, don't feel hungry etc etc and they get labelled and stored in warehouses. They're artworks so people can buy them and display them at home. But they only go on display for a fixed number of hours a day and for a month or more etc. They can even be furniture - chairs that people do sit on or tables or trays etc. And this Artist murdered two artworks - more like destroying the canvases, ie. the humans. There's a third exhibition where one of the paintings will be destroyed but they don't know which one so they have to catch the Artist, except he's elusive so it's really difficult etc etc. Anyway, towards the end when the Artist's identity and intention is revealed, he was talking about how the whole chase and the murders were all part of his great piece of artwork and I was thinking oh, then this book is that "greatest" piece of work since it contains the whole thing. Wow, the author sure is flattering himself. Ha.. But the ending was rather anti-climatic in my opinion. After all that twistedness the ending brought me back to reality. That kinda sucked..

Now I'm reading For One More Day by Mitch Albom. It's...really thin. Ha.. Compared to that last book. It's just ok. I just read the part where the mother said children were wishes granted. Right. More like wishes backfired - what my mother would think.

I went to feed the cats earlier today because I don't want them pouncing on me.. The lady who was working in the office where the cats hung out outside of saw me feeding the cats and said they must have been waiting for me because they were crying there just now. Err......... But other people feed them too so what are they crying for? The lady said her colleague feeds them several times a day. And commented that the cats were getting fatter because of all the good food. Ha.. But still, I don't like to be depended on. VERY stressful. I really dislike that whiny cry of the cat.. Shit. What did I do. Help?

I was watching Live Earth 070707 on youtube and I saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers' performances. So good. Damn I didn't catch them on the tele. I think I would have watched all 24 hours of the concert if I didn't need to go to the commencement to collect my gown. But I went to Plaza Sing where they had a big (green) tent to telecast it. It was great watching on the big screen. =) Or more like many screens.. Anyway, Red Hot Chili Peppers were really good. I love Can't Stop

and By the way

Did you watch the videos? Because Flea said something really funny at the beginning of the second vid. It's funnier when he says it, but he said: I just want to say, there's a single thing that I can say that's the most important thing that you've ever heard, but I can't remember it so maybe next time. Ha.. So funny. And then the other guy was, what are you going about Flea? Ha.. And then at the ending of the song, which was the end of their performances, Flea was so funny too. Crazy man.

And then, you MUST watch their music video for Can't Stop. The uploader put in the "More info" section that "It's totally awesome". Awesome INDEED. It's so fun and crazy. There's this stupid big smile on my face when I watch it. Ha.. I love the colours and the crazy things they are doing in the video. So fun. The topless goodlooking lead singer is Anthony. He's so funny with the plant. Can you tell he's 46 this year? Oh, he's dated Heidi Klum before. Beware, the video's loud.

Oh yah, the other guitarist, John, reminds me SO MUCH of Eric Forman (Topher Grace) from That '70s Show. There's this scene where he dressed up as a rocker with long hair to impress Donna in her room. Everytime I see that guitarist I'm reminded of that. I know they don't look alike but it keeps popping in my head. And it first occurred to me when watching the Live Earth gigs and he had short hair there so I don't know what's the connection.. Thinness perhaps? I think it's in season 3 the episode "Eric's Drunken Tattoo" but I can't find the clip. (I checked the episode guide, I don't remember that well.) Maybe it's not in that episode. Will try to find another time.

Today the cats were waiting at the staircase for me. My office is in the basement and the cats are usually on the ground level near the cars or the other staircase where the cleaners put their stuff and where they feed the cats. I usually feed them around 7pm because not many people are around in the evening so I figured I'll just feed them dinner because other people feed them too. So today I was walking up the stairs to go feed them, before I reached the top I saw both of them sitting there waiting for me and the minute they saw that I saw them, the thinner one jumped onto the steps through the railings and the other started meowing and walking around. They already gave me a shock by sitting there because they're usually elsewhere. I definitely don't want them pouncing on me. I don't really want them relying on me for food as well because I won't be there very long. Anyway I gave them food and went to the toilet. When I came back they were gone and the food was all gone too. I thought they might wait for me because I didn't pour a lot in case they didn't finish them. Before I left the office I even went to see if they went back again to wait for me in case they were still hungry. The thinner cat was but sometimes it just wants cat treats and doesn't eat the cat food so I didn't feed it again. The weird cat likes to sit there staring. Weirdo. Ha.. Ok, ciao..

Go David!

Yay David Cook won... I already knew that before watching the result show because the office people were talking about it. A little annoying, but the announcement of the result was still...satisfying? Because of the atmosphere, sparks and confetti etc etc.. The "winning song" sounded good. And I LOVE his cream/white guitar during his solo (rock) song somewhere in the middle of the show. And I love the song. I want that guitar...

Man, the youtube people are really efficient..

Maybe because I already knew the result so the show felt like a concert to me. Oh, I forgot about Bo Bice yesterday. Saw him in the audience in the result show just now. I didn't watch his season but I saw the finale and I prefered him to Carrie Underwood, who won and sang just now. Do you know what she said after she won? I read in the papers (or somewhere) that she said she was going to do country music because people who listen to country music are nice. Ok, what? That sounds like bull*bleep*. Are her songs now country music? Because I don't really know that genre. But she did sound rather country in her song just now. I have nothing against country music or her but that statement is just stupid. When was the last time Kelly Clarkson sang at American Idol? I think this is the first time the person I rooted for won. Woohoo! Ha.. I'm such a jinx.

After DC was announced the winner and there were several close-ups of him, only then did I notice that his facial hair was kinda funky. Ha.. He had a thicker goatee and a less dense stubble so there was more ...dimension? I think it's the first time I noticed that style of facial hair. Nice. I'm so looking forward to his album!

David vs. David

Just watched the finale of American Idol. Disappointed with Cook's performances. Wasn't wowed at all. And it wasn't even because I had high expectations. Usually I just listen to him and the feeling wells up. Not for all his songs though, because he's not that perfect. Ha.. I don't mind at all the other David winning this. Achuleta? He was really much better today. He can really sing. I think Cook is better at incredible arrangements of music. He was strangely lacklustre today. I'm sure everybody was expecting much more from him. I think my favourite was the second song. If it's based purely on today's performances Archuleta should win but it doesn't seem fair to award the title based on just one night right? I think the boy is good but I can't stand looking at him when he's not singing. His mouth keeps opening and closing. Kinda annoying. =P But he's great when singing of course. I don't think winning the title is important anyway. They can still have great careers after this.

Ruben Studdard sang at the end of the show and the song was quite nice, erm, better than Fantasia's strange performance the other time.. She was so out of shape. Ruben surprisingly looked almost exactly the same as I remembered. Didn't lose or put on any weight at all. Quite incredible. Ha.. I don't really remember any of his songs on radio though. I remember songs by Clay Aiken, the girl who sang Eighth Wonder or something, Kelly Clarkson (of course), Daughtry (of course), Carrie Underwood, Jordin Spark and nobody else except for those I didn't know were in American Idol or whom I can't recall right now.

I hope tomorrow's result show would be fantastic. I don't mind either winning so I'm just looking forward to all the performances. Not to the lame jokes and annoying incessant screaming when people are trying to talk..

Beware of affectionate cats

So I was feeding the office cat and it was circling and rubbing itself on me. And then I looked down and there was so much white hair on my black pants! Few weeks ago dooce was saying her dog was shedding tonnes of hair. I see cats do that too. Damn shedding season. Don't know if the cat is using me to get rid of all that extra hair.. It's the slimmer, whiter cat, by the way. The other one only meows at me when it wants to eat. Didn't see it just now. The whiter cat is very cute and greedy for treats.. I managed to lure it down to the basement where I work just now. Ha.. It eats the cat food when it's hungry but will always eat the treats. That disgusting-smelling liver-flavoured treats. It keeps meowing at me, with those big cute cat eyes à la Puss-in-Boots, after eating the cat food, even when there's still some left. If I mix the treats with the cat food it'll still only eat the treats. Remind you of anyone? Ha.. Must remember to bring my camera to take photos before I leave the place.

COOK

The result show for American Idol is showing on TV now.. So exciting! Ha.. I only started watching from Idol Gives Back. I was so impressed when David Cook turned Mariah Carrey's Always be my baby into a rock song. Frigging cool man. Wow. So obviously he's my favourite. He reminds me of Daughtry though. I'm hoping it's a David vs. David final. But I think Cook should win it. He turns everything into rock songs. Ha.. I like how he transforms songs. And I love the orchestra plus rock music. So GRANDEUR. Like being on top of the world. It's exhilarating. I get sort of that feeling performing in band concerts/competitions/etc. It's scary to see so many people, but really exciting. Being on stage singing alone must be a GAZILLION times that rush. Millions of people in front of you, a whole orchestra behind, the lights, darkness everywhere else.. I think I would faint. Ha..

I think my last post about teaching at that krn enrichment centre place was eaten up by my laptop. Anyway, yesterday I went again and the first class was one of the two boys who were...moved away because one of them wouldn't cooperate with me. *bleepbleepbleep*, my first lesson and they gave me him. Before the lesson the principal even told me only he can handle the boy. And then laughed. -.-" At least it was a sort of worried laugh. Anyway yesterday it was the other boy alone and it was so much better. There was supposed to be another girl but she didn't turn up. At first I didn't say much so we were just doing work but then he finished all his work in half an hour and I was a bit stunned. So I started to talk rubbish and ask him to spell stuff. Ha.. He was so happy he thought he could leave early but somebody brought him the next lesson's work to do. Thankfully he was guai enough to half=play and half-do his work and I just let him take his time because it's extra work anyway. And then, he found a yellow rubber band on the table and started playing with it, ie. pulled and aimed at me. I used my jacket to shield and he found that very amusing.. Oh, that extra worksheet was on silent 'e' and the first word was cute. I asked him if he knew the meaning and who was cute and he pointed at me. Haha.. I just said thank you. Ha.. And in the middle of doing the worksheet I suddenly remember the rubber band and wondered where it was. Guess where it was? In his mouth. He was chewing it. Right. Do all krn kids like to put things in their mouths? The last week the boy with him kept biting his pencil and in the next class the boy ate paper last week and the girl tasted staplets and said it was spicy. Is this a krn thing?? I've eaten paper when I was that age so I guess that's not very weird. It's the most edible thing amongst the four. Anyway the rubber-band-chewing boy said krn rubber bands are yellow and Singapore rubber bands are red. I asked him what about green ones and he said there are no green rubber bands so I'm going to bring next week to show him. Ha..

Now, to the ugly part. After that boy's class were this boy and girl whom I taught last week too. Last week was already quite chaotic but this week was hell. They not only just ran all over the room and screamed, they were climbing all over me as well. I had to get really pissed off before they would sit down and do their work. The girl came earlier and was very intrigued by my adidas watch so I just let her play with it but she kept saying she wanted it and wouldn't give it back. Excuse me, this is a watch, not an eraser.. She hogged it till the boy got it away from her and gave me back. So guai. He's a hyper monkey but at least he's more serious in his work when he settles down. That girl's file had a teacher's comment saying don't bother to clarify her mistakes. It doesn't help that the boy keeps telling her the right answers. Last week I was wearing a shirt with Mickey Mouse and she said she likes Minnie because she's a girl so she likes girls and asked me if I like boy or girl. I said I like boys and girls. Haha.. Such a clever answer! Ha.. But she said can only choose one and I can tell she's the kind who wants her way so I just said girls. Ok I should stop complaining about her. She's not that bad all the time.

Oh, the boy from the previous class saw my pencil and wanted to exchange with me too. He said his pencil was for girls. It had polka-dots/spots/circles, retro-ish. But my pencil, which I don't think most of you have seen, isn't that erm, ungirlish.. It's got dogs and a ball. But it's black and white so less girlish than his spotty pencil ba. But he is obviously ahem, less spoilt. =P I just told him the pencil has french words and I know french. Don't think he really got that though. Guess he just wasn't serious. And the pencil does have french words. "lundi et mardi", which is monday and tuesday. It also says something promenade..

Ok, shall end here. Got a cold again. Tata!

I just realised I have a missing post from yesterday. And it was a long post too! Damn it! Can't wait for the PC Show in June. Still a whole month away. This stupid laptop better not eat up anything of mine again. When I get a new laptop I want to change this blogskin. Don't trust what I see on this laptop. Anyway the numbers are the spots on the Million Blog List where these people are experimenting to see how long it'll take for 1 million blogs to list themselves. So do put your blog in the list if you have a blog. Just for fun. Good deed of the day. Shall blog again tomorrow. Ciao..

#1401

Turns out I was number 1401 on the Million Blog List. Something wrong with something I guess. Either the website or the computers I touch. When I checked at the office there were two #1401 but I was in the right section and the other wasn't. I think I could have gotten the spot if I tried early in the morning. Oh well.

Anyway, this season of Survivor is the WORST one yet. It's so annoying to watch! Everytime I think it couldn't get worse, what do you know? Whoever wins now I'll be damn pissed off. Do you know what happened today? Of course I'm going to assume you didn't and I do think you probably don't watch it but I don't care. This stupid guy Erik won immunity and then the 4 girls spin this story that he has to give his immunity to this other girl for them to trust him again and to win the jury's favour. And he did! My God! What is wrong with you??? There is only one last immunity challenge left and you've won the last...few. The girls are obviously not even that good at challenges, compared to you. You had such a high chance of getting into the finals and the girls were doing tonnes of strategising and screwed so many people you really had a REALLY good shot at winning! What is wrong with you??! Argh! If Cirie wins the million I'm going to be super pissed off. If I didn't dislike her as much as I do, I might actually think she's been making rather smart moves, with her smart mouth. However, I can't stand her. Every person I rooted for in this season got voted off. I'm such a jinx. But I'm so glad Ozzy got voted off. Ha.. That bastard was so arrogant.

lepinluee2 said...

Cuteness wins.

I doubt that this is why Cirie is still in the game and Erik and Ozzy are not but hey .... there's no accounting for taste ....

Eh I decided that 1399 is a nice enough number for me. Ha.. Shall check tomorrow morn to see if I could have gotten the 1404 spot.

Saturday, April 26, 2008

I've been watching That 70's Show on youtube and megavideo for the last 2 weeks or so. It's so funny. I've watched half of season 1, all of 4, 5 and 6 and just starting on season 7. I'm hoping people will upload seasons 1 to 3.. Last night I watched the Final Goodbye special episode for the taping of the very last episode after 8 seasons - 8 years. It was so sad. I was crying. Boohoo. I think the show was better than Friends. Even though season 8 was quite bad because 2 main characters left for movie roles. It just shows how sad growing up is.

Season 4: An Eric Forman Christmas

Bob: If I had mistletoe I'd kiss you.
Red: If I had mistle-foot, it'll be in your ass.
13:04-14:35

I love Red's foot-in-the-ass remarks and especially how he laughs at how innovative he thinks he is. Hahaha..

My favourite character:

Ok, that might not be very funny if you don't watch the show..

I know I wanted to post every day of the month but I got sick the whole week and I can't be bothered to make up the posts for the whole week so..too bad. This might be the longest I've been sick for so long. Since chicken pox? Something else happened over the week too but I think it's sort of ok now. Life still sucks tho. So, I wouldn't mind dying. Except I have to pay my study loans first and leave money for family etc. Did I mention life sucks?

Meteorite from Ye on Vimeo.

We took this ride at the St Nicks fair-thingy. The beginning of this clip is at the peak, where it's 180 degrees. The girls were shouting cheers before I took the clip. Too bad I missed it. The ride didn't have any safety straps or anything. It merely depended on the concentric force that just pushes you on your back. There was some cushioning behind and bars for you to grab. At the beginning (90 degrees) it wasn't scary and quite fun actually. People were just screaming for fun. But the ride was quite long so I got tired of screaming. Ha.. But then when it got to 180 degrees it was quite scary! I was erm, whimpering.. I was afraid that I would be that person who got injured in an amusement ride. Because my hands were just grabbing the bars at my sides, arms parallel to my body, as opposed to 90 degrees, so I could feel my hands slipping and I had to use my elbows to brace myself. When the ride was finished my arms were aching. And we all felt giddy and sick. Ha.. Before we got on the ride I saw this angmoh blonde girl getting off and I commented that she looks sick. The ride was really quite long, and nauseating. =P At least the ride wasn't lame so I don't feel I wasted that ten bucks. Did I mention it was frigging hot that day??

Pony ride? from Ye on Vimeo.

"Pony ride" at the St Nicks Fiesta Fund-raising Something last Saturday. It was damn freaking hot..

This laptop is really going crazy. Monday then use office computer to see what's wrong with the layout here.

Weather is so hot! This afternoon when I walked out of the school building there was a light drizzle. Just after I stepped under the bus stop shelter it just suddenly poured. So lucky. It wasn't my bus stop but at least had time to slowly take out my umbrella.

I was late for class, ahem as usual, and my original teacher was back and she was getting to know the class. Did I mention there's a jc girl in my class? After the teacher asked her age she said very young! After that she asked my age and then she said she thought I was only a little older than that girl. =) Ha.. But then she was like, oh chey 24 isn't that young. Why, thank you.. =P But so long as people think I look young I'm happy. I think the other classmates like her, especially this particular girl because she kept laughing today. Ha.. But quite a number didn't turn up today so maybe not all will prefer her. But the previous teacher really a bit..weird.. =P

In Memory

Just now I bought milk and its expiry date was 14.04.08. =)

I just read a blog of an aki..acquaintance..?..who is still there. It feels familiar and yet foreign, reading those aki-related stuff. Anyways,

it was raining really heavily this afternoon. I looked out the window of the office at 4.53pm and was shocked to see it almost-pitch-black. It hadn't even started to rain yet. By the time I went up to ground level it was pouring already. Or something like that. I don't really remember. Ha.. I wished I had taken the whole day off to rot at home. =P But my mother was home, I think, so I couldn't have enjoyed myself at home anyway. It would be nice to just sit in the living room or in bed and watch cartoons and listening to the rain and winds..

The other day I was listening to Michael Jackson's Little Susie at work and remembered listening to his HIStory: Past, Present and Future album when I was in JC, in the afternoon at home. Most of my memories of listening to music is when it's raining heavily. I don't know why.. Anyway, Little Susie always spooked me at that time. It's really eerie. Didn't dare to listen to it at night. It's basically about this little girl who died and how pitiful she was. The introduction is super long and eerie. You can go youtube to find a video with that song. I found one that was really creepy and I only watched a few seconds of it. I prefer what's in my head when I listen to that song. I love that song. I'm not so spooked by it now. I think because I'm in a darker place now? It's a really good song. All those people who have nothing better to do than to pass vicious rumours should just drop dead. Seriously, have you nothing better to do? Then stop wasting oxygen and our precious Earth's resources and drop dead.

Just because you read it in a magazine
Or see it on the TV screen
Don't make it factual
Though everybody wants to read all about it
Just because you read it in a magazine
Or see it on the TV screen
Don't make it factual, actual

You're so damn disrespectable

I swear I will not eat expired stuff ever again

Man, I didn't know sweets can expire. I think I've been getting diarhhea a lot more often since I started working. I wish I can work from home like the first two bloggers on the left. *points*

I don't remember what I wanted to blog about.. Oh the other day I was listening to songs on my computer and while this song was playing I thought I was listening to Nickelback and was trying to think what song I was listening to. It was a Santana song and Santana's songs are usually not sung by him. So I went to goggle the singer's name and he was indeed the lead singer of Nickelback. =) I'm so proud of myself. Ha.. Because I've probably heard only about 4 songs by Nickelback? Oh and I realised a song that I liked in the Spider-man soundtrack was sung by him too. That one I didn't recognise his voice. I think I liked that song before I even noticed Nickelback. Sometimes when I hear songs that I like and didn't recognise the singer's name I would wonder why they weren't more well-known. I wonder how many of those are in bands? I think Santana's songs are nice because he has a knack for recognising good singers. And his music is good too lah. But if he always uses different people to sing his songs, who sings at his concert? He can't possibly get so many people at his concert right? Anybody went to his concert here? Anybody care to enlighten me?

Because it's APRIL - ahem special month =) - I'm going to try to blog everyday, with some cheating. Like I'm going to blog yesterday's post now.. Ha..

Good morning!

I just realised I hadn't ripped my Shinedown CDs into my laptop. I can't believe I forgot to do that. I ripped the songs into my computer at work and I didn't on my laptop. I copied the songs into my mp3 player using the work computer so I guess that's why I forgot. I am loving their song Some Day today. And t. whitney has an absolutely adorable little boy. Ha.. I started reading her old posts after I finished dooce's. (Links on the side of the blog *points*) Almost finishing because she doesn't have that many entries and because I read some of them last year already. That boy is so cute. =P So cute! I wish I were related to them so I can play with her kids. They're all cute. =) She has 4 kids. So fun. The first two look alike and the other two look alike. I wonder what a 5th one would look like. Ha.. So cute so cute.. And now Shinedown's Some Day reminds me of him. I was put the song on repeat on my player just now and it made me miss my stop. -.-' At least it was just one stop and not that far. And I was playing with the play speed function on the bus. The faster it was, the higher the pitch. At the highest speed it was so funny. Ha..

Ok found a video with the song:

A lot of people like Mr. Darcy huh? Other songs that I like also featured him. Maybe I'll watch the movie. But there's a lot of films I want to watch but haven't. That film always remind me of the module I took that was about translating classic literature to film because we did Jane Austen's book. I miss studying lit.. Unfortunately a lit degree is quite useless.

I wanted to upload some pictures that I took with my phone in the office 'cause I was bored but the phone's bluetooth can't detect the laptop. I don't know if it's the phone or the laptop but the laptop's a little crazy in other ways too. I wonder if it's reason enough to get a new one.. But it feels like I'll be wasting money. Sigh. I should carry my camera around more often anyway. I will show you a picture of my design studio in aki instead:

I like this so much I bought another lion to put in my office before Chinese New Year. =) Tomorrow bring camera to office. If you nose around the background you can see some junk on my table and there are comic strips of Calvin and Hobbes. My office table only has pin-ups of work junk.. Oh actually I think I have pictures of my office table. Hang on...

The koala bear was given by a colleague who went Australia. I like my calendar. Think it's quite cute. Glad I chanced upon it! The sweets are scattered there in case I get a cold. That's the most colourful spot of my table. Ha.. Tomorrow take more pictures. Maybe dig out more stuff to decorate my office table. =)

Bonne nuit mes amies!

New!

'ello! Welcome to the new blog add... Finally finished changing the layout. Oh yah, Happy Easter! My penpal said she sent me "special" candy. Ha.. Wonder what that is.

Yesterday my french teacher told me to read out the conjugations of a new verb. And he said my pronunciation was perfect. C'est parfait. Oh how kind. Ha.. But he sounded surprised so that means my pronunciation isn't that good usually. Ha.. But I read very slowly.. At least I feel less lost in french class now.

Time for dinner. Tata~

I finally had my fringe cut. When I walked out of the place I was like, wow I can see clearly. Ha.. And then I saw this very cute plump white cat. Plump is cute. Fat is...ahem. It meowed at me and walked around me. So friendly.. I gave it cat treats 'cos I bought a pack a couple weeks back to feed another cat which meowed at me. Reward for being cute. Ha..

I'm reading this book The Art of Murder by José Carlos Somoza. There's a description of the girl:

Bassan sometimes told her that her face could look kind and heartless at the same time, 'like an angel who has nostalgic memories of being a devil'.

Cool. Does that description fit me? Ha.. She's not the murderer, by the way. Actually I'm not very sure yet where she fits in. Maybe the probable next victim?

Somebody told me that my blog is too wide and needs to be scrolled to the left/right to be read. How come nobody told me? I'm using a widescreen laptop so it looks perfectly ok to me. I'm changing the blogskin soon anyway 'cos even La Nina is not making the weather here cold anymore so the snowman is melting away.

I wonder if the Olympics people regret choosing Beijing.. But 080808 is such a nice number and appropriate for China. They better not screw it up. But then it would make our Youth Olympics look SOOO much better. Ha.. I hope I can be part of that somehow.

Ok bedtime. Good night.

Bleah. This season's Survivor is really bad. I liked Joel and then he kinda acted rather annoyingly and then he got voted off. Ozzy is mean and evil and not very likeable. I still don't like Cirie. I don't even feel like spelling her name right. She is so annoying. I don't know why people are listening to her when it's so obvious that everything she says is for her own benefit in the long run. And then those two people who are so damn nua and look like they do nothing at all. One of them is gone but that moron could have got Ozzy voted off today and that would have been his biggest contribution, ever. But because his foot hurt so he wanted to leave. That guy is so nua I really wonder why he even signed up for the game. I'm sure they edited away some stuff that he did do but it's very obvious he really cannot make it. Was he sabotaged and put on the island? Oh, and Jonathan had to leave to get an operation on his knee. Ouch. He was the only remaining favourite that I enjoyed watching again. That sucks.

Oh today is the finale of Hell's Kitchen on Ch5. It's so fun to see Chef Ramsay screaming at them. Ha.. If you don't know what the show is about, it's basically reality TV for chefs. By the time I started watching it there were only 6 chefs left. But I think it's usually towards the end that the show is more interesting. The test of every episode is to cook for the restaurant. One episode was really damn funny. Chef Ramsay is always barking at people, fierce etc. The kitchen is a sort of open one and the restaurant is usually very busy 'cos sometimes the chefs mess up. This woman customer was unhappy about something and wanted to talk to Chef Ramsay and was standing there trying to get him to pay attention to her. He was very impatient and annoyed and just said Get your breasts off my hotplate, waving his hand to shoo her away. That woman was so offended and pissed off she overturned several dishes and stormed out of the restaurant. Her friend was behind her and she looked so frigging amused. Ha.. Chef Ramsay was like, oh shit I did something bad but I can't show it. So funny. Ha..

I don't mind either of the finalists in Hell's Kitchen so I guess I won't be disappointed. I hope it's an exciting finale. Ciao!

It's a dark, dark world...

I'm getting a little obsessed with the Egg Hunt in (fluff).. I go clicking in strangers' (fluff)books and I see many people with loads of things in their profile image and I think: these people are damn free. =P Actually I think there are many many very free people in facebook. It's not really a criticism. I'm just saying.. Or maybe they're just very efficient and can do many things in a short amount of time.

Anyway. I stayed late in the office today and there was a knock on the door. I thought it was a security guard, or some moron who thought the office was someplace else because there's a dumb sign on the door that does not describe what the office actually is. Anyway it was a man who wanted to borrow some raffia string. I don't know why he decided to be friendly and started asking questions about the office. Because of that stupid sign. Obviously I can't do anything about that sign because I would have, long ago. What creeped me out was that he asked about the Pringles that were sitting on our table in the middle of the office, which was not visible from the door. He saw it from the window which was somewhere behind me. Our office is in the basement and the window is the back of a spectators' stand. Was that a clear description? Anyway it was a little creepy that it was dark and somebody was peeking through the window because it wasn't that the Pringles was just beside the window. It was almost in the middle of the room and two machines were sitting right in front of the window.

Obviously I wasn't murdered by some creepy guy at the office.

And then I went home by bus. And alighted at the old police academy, where the bus stop had a huge poster of MSbK, brightly-lit, and this Malay man was standing right in front of it. I didn't think the man looked very much like MSbK, but I was already paranoid and the place was near where he escaped and it was super dark and there was nobody else around, not even at the academy where there usually were people playing hockey. Plus, I was also reading this book called The Art of Murder. (Explaining the paranoia here.) I stood at the other end of the bus stop and couldn't help looking at him. I think it was very obvious to him that I found him suspicious. Poor man. Haha.. Oh and he had a limp too. I saw it when he walked over to the rubbish bin. Later another man also alighted at the bus stop and he didn't do anything either. But I'm quite sure it wasn't MSbK anyway. I'm usually good at recognising faces. In fact, I think I saw a senior from sec school band today.

Ok, that's the end of my creepy evening. Good night!

Easter is a-coming~~ I just saw Facebook (fluff)Friends has an Egg hunt thing going on. You can find eggs while visiting your (fluff)friends. So fun! Ha.. Real egg hunt will be funner.

After finishing my meds all the pain gone le. I hope they don't come back. But, now my arms are aching. *whine whine* I went to the IT show on Sunday and lugged back a damn frigging heavy printer. I think it was the only label that didn't give a trolley with it. Lucky me. Because there was a jam and long queue at the taxi stand (and because I thought I had the strength), I took a bus which was just outside the convention hall. Of course I wouldn't lug that thing on the train. Do I not have a functioning brain? Maybe I should have sat down on the bus. I was already a little tired after I got down from the bus. I had to cross an overhead bridge, go up a flight of stairs and walk about..8 blocks? At the bus stop this very helpful guy offered to carry it for me up the bridge. So paiseh. As much as I appreciate people's helpfulness, it's also very embarrassing that people think I'm overestimating myself. -.-" I kinda don't really want witnesses to my idiocy. Ha.. But anyway I can solve this kind of problems loh. I either just take very long or find other solutions. After lugging it across the bridge and down the bridge I just took a cab back. Should have just taken a cab at the bus stop.. I happened to take the lift with my neighbour and she offered to help me carry too. I just happen to be smaller so things look bigger with me.. But the printer really is huge.

See evidence:

Does it look big in the pics? I know the colours of the door and floor don't match. Oh we hung a lantern under a light near the door. When only that light is on at night, the lantern twirls and the light is pretty..

Ok, good night, will blog again tomorrow..

Because this is my blog, I get to whine as much as I like

Urgh, I've been having this stupid gastritis for the past three days. Finally saw a doctor today but the meds don't seem to be working.. And I have a headache and fever now. Why must the fever come after I see the doctor. I have no idea if I can take panadol with the other meds. Actually, I forgot to tell the doc I took panadol before this gastritis hit. I took Tuesday off because I worked over the weekend to do something for the boss. I must complain about this stupid boy in a later post. Anyway, I went out for lunch and then felt a little feverish so I slept the whole afternoon and then took a panadol in the evening. And then I got this stupid gastric pain at night. And I feel so bloated. And I've been waking in the middle of the night to pee.

Pain..pain...pain... Even my eyes feel hot.. Did you read the title of this post?

Oh, and I just noticed that a screw on my specs is missing. Kns.. Must bring to the shop to see if they can put another screw in. Well, they had better..

Damn I forgot what I wanted to blog about. I don't really like whining that much really.

It's time for Survivor! It was starting to bore me and look like it's a dating show.. It's the Fan versus Favourites season and there are 2 couples in the Favourites now. They seem not as interesting to watch this time around. PLUS, why in the world in Cyrie in the Favourites?? Whose favourite is she?? She is so damn annoying. I hate her. Thankfully today they're going to mix the tribes. Yippee! I couldn't differentiate the two skinny boys in the Fans tribe until last episode where they spoke and took different sides at tribal council. And, Ozzy was so Ozzy in the challenge last week. Ha..

Ok I'm off to watch Survivor. Hope that annoying (Cyrie and) sharp gastric pain and fever will go away permanently.
